First of all, 1 !== .9 recurring.
Secondly, even if it did, 9y (9) does not equal 1y (.9 recurring).

x = 1/3 = .333...
3x = 3/3 = .999... = 1

Not that it really matters, saying a decimal is recurring is saying that it goes on infinitely, which math can neither prove nor disprove.
