A little while ago... after installing my sound card (ESONICQ w/ SoundBlaster V64 AudioPCI settings), I experienced M-A-N-Y 'blue screens of death,' so i deliberately DOWNGRADED my soundcard back to what it was originally (a SoundBlaster 16). Any help is appriciated.

> System Information (OLD) <

- Pentium II Processor (300 MHz)
- 96 MB of RAM
- ATI Rage 128 Video Card.
- SoundBlaster AudioPCI V64 Sound Card.

> System Information (NEW) <

- Pentium III Processor (MHz isn't listed)
- 384.0 MB of RAM
- ATI Rage 128 Video Card.
- SoundBlaster 16 Sound Card. (Note: The new driver doesn't have good IDF's... so it doesn't play well.)

BOTH information(s) have Windows 98SE on them.

For security reasons... I will say no more (for now).

How about posting your operating system, that can help significantly.

I know my soundcard wouldn't work when I upgraded to windows 2000.

I know my soundcard wouldn't work when I upgraded to windows 2000.

it wasn't a software upgrade jmiller... in fact, it WASN'T an upgrade at all. When I tried using it one day (after doing almost nothing to it) it gave me the blue screen of death for a VXD file i didn't know.

[Error message stuff here.] occured in VXD ----.

afterwards... once I got some things straightened out...

A fatal exception 0E occured [in this file.]

this only happened when I opened a MIDI file... otherwise it would do this whenever i opened windows. When I put the MIDI configuration to MIDI Out instead of Synth... it didn't produce sound, but it also didn't give me the errors :p. Also, with the sound card in... it didn't let me navigate through anything with window depth of 2 or more... otherwise it froze.

Are you sure you have the latest drivers?
since ESONIQ's website isn't up... that would be a big fat no. But otherwise, I have SoundBlaster AudioPCI V64 Legacy Device.

My OS was compatable, but since i tried re-installing windows over my old one... it went kaput. Also, this was right before i installed the new motherboard.

You can't use Creative drivers for another manufacturer's soundcard in case that's what you were trying to do.

If you can't wait for their website to be up again, http://www.soundcard-drivers.com/companies/372.htm might help you. From googling it seems the Esoniq SB64 is their 1370 chipset, so you could try any driver for that chipset suitable for Windows 98 and hope for the best.
