the .com .net and .orgs i mean

namedemo.com gotta have a credit card to sign up

namezero.com - never replys

domainzero.com - you know why

man, i was going to register a few domains that might be mistaken for my real domain

eg flexfx.net

flixfx.net

flixweb.net

flexweb.net

but they are dead an di am only 15 and dont have a CC, damn companys, and i wont spend 40$ for domains i wont use

i have spent over 130$ on the web so far.. so eh =\

What do you mean by they never reply (Namezero)? Do you mean they have incredibly sucky support? I remembered they had this bulletin support board long time ago before they changed to this new layout, is that right? Oh well, it's free and that's all I care about.

I should have never registered my free domain with Namezero. You don't own it, of course, and if you want to transfer it, you gotta pay 'em $50, or ugrade for $24.95 then you can transfer for "free". Damn them!!

BTW, it takes weeks for them to register your application for a free domain, and sometimes they just decide not to register one for you. I think it took about a month or two before their reply came.

FluxFX, I'm in a similar state here, but since you already spent $150 on your web stuff, why not spend an extra few bucks for domains at joker.com or something? Actually, if I were you, I wouldn't bother with the "similar" domains, other people can register 'em if they want, who cares? I don't see Yahoo registering Yehoo.com and Yihoo.com, just in case they might be mistaken for Yahoo... so I'm telling you, it's kinda unnecessary.

Hey Lex, I've got the same problem! I am 15, so don't have a credit card, and wanted to register 3dflux.net . I used emeisp.com to get it for free, but now I don't own that domain, and to transfer it costs a whole lot more money than a registering it for a couple of years. I might wait till it expires (next December), and tell emeisp not to register it. But do I still have to pay transfer fees? I'm okay with leaving my domain up for grabs for a couple of days. But can I register it myself as soon as it expires? Or is there a waiting period? I might just change the name of my site to avoid all this.

Might be a good idea...to change the name, that is. How soon your name can be re-registed depends on when and if the registrar decides to release it.

NameZero never replied to me, but I went in a week later and found the domain was created and just used the "Lost Password" option to get my password.

I tried NameZero a couple of times too(for the same domain) . They never registered it, or emailed me about it. I also tried namedemo before them. I registered a different domain with them, it worked too. But the huge ad frame was too much...and really ugly. It made me realize that a domain for a personal site isn't THAT important.

Mah domain is there in my sig... I used the frame breaker script to break out of other people's ugly frames, and it seems to work too with namezero (?) after you get redirected, but your domain isn't censored after that. I agree, the adframe screaming at you to upgrade their services on your page is.... it doesn't quite fit in.

I'm waiting for it to expire too, and I'm pleading Namezero not to re-register it. I'm thinking that if you break their TOS, they might notice and terminate your account, but what I'm afraid of is that they'll take your domain along with them and never give it back to you. So, I'm not violating anything, I don't think. Do you s'pose that frame breaking thing is cheating and violating their TOS? Personally, i don't think so, since I'm just using that domain to redirect to my real site... if I'm wrong, somebody correct me here, I've been making a lot of mistakes lately.... :p

Although having a domain for personal site isn't THAT important, I wouldn't want to go around for the rest of my life telling other people to get to my page by redirection services like cjb.net... I mean, having a site addy sumthin like http://www.geocities.com/whataabllahdijhkkkk or http://junkiesandmoreat.cjb.net just isn't for me. Also, domains are cool... :) so when I do have enough $ to register my own domain, I would do it...
Hell, I might even decide to transfer it from Namezero if I have to, but I'm saving that as a last resort, I don't want to hand over $50 to no Namezero, dammit!! ;)

well, hope this aint breaking the rules here, but you can always make that frame smaller (50% the size it is now), within the desc box at the control panel at namezero :)

How?? Email me, man!!!

name zero

Name Zero is/was a total joke. I have 3 email addresses with them and they never even registered the domain. How can I be zzzzzzz@mydomain.com and it works but its never been registered? Otherwise the domains they did register they can't even keep my email address of record correct.I actually registered the same domain being 3 different people.(different email and slight altercation of name...g smith,gt smith, gary smith, etc.) Not worth your pain.
