Best FREE PC Game...?

for over a decade free games called shareware have existed, an which have 'no' expirary date, with many being popular.
so i did this poll to see who here prefered one game over another.

if your fave aint above - pick the best overall i say

also, if a mod wants to add other popular free games to the list, like others below may mention, then feel free to do so.

Definitely! Solitaire is just one of those games that I'm really good at.

I remember this game called "Dink Smallwood". It was sort of an RPG type game...it was sorta cool for a free game. I still remember one line (okay, I don't remember it exactly):

"So, what are you up to?"
"Looking for some good fur..."
"Sounds good"

Or something to that effect. The way other dialogue in the game proceeds, you are not led to believe he is talking about animal pelts...

Nethack is an awesome little game, always play a port of it on my Palm.

However right now my favourite free PC game is 'Continuum'.

EDIT:
I used to play 'Dink Smallwood' for a while, and I seem to remember one of the villagers calling my "mother" a tramp or something along those lines.
Game became rather childish and vulgar for my liking.

Hi all - i just sent a PM to mr mod above, as some of the poll options havent been voted for, so could he replace those '0' voted games with choices of his own, from 'memory', and/or members who posted above, on their game prefs, as i feel the poll options would better reflect the people here, an i dont want to ignore fellow members game prefrences.
