BUT they are still there! Can you say the same of many others?

Just browsing this freewebspace forum,I see many hosts who have tried and failed. Top marks to them for trying! But how many members here have been burnt by moving to *this nice new free host*?

They don't have pop-ups? Weird, maybe because your page was "elite" and was exempted from ads. I could have sworn there were pops because I have a really ugly site with them back then.

And on the contrary, there are too many hosts to choose from 4 years ago. I could name at several dozen that I could still remember. Remember, these are hosts that I "remember" and wasn't even the complete list.

And I stand corrected because 4 years back, there are plenty of freehost offering unlimited webspace like xoom, ascensionweb and a lot more that I couldn't remember the names. The free webhosting market is absolutely thriving back 4 years ago and you tell me there aren't many to choose from?

They may be still here but who cares? Geocities is just like Microsoft. Evil, greedy and generally sucks. Geocities has set up a solid concrete empire just like Microsoft and their tyrannic rule over newbies isn't going to end anytime soon because their influence is too deep-rooted.

They may still be there but that is because they are very lucrative and like to screw their customers with very crappy service.
 
I voted for Angelfire. When I was using free hosts, I found them more reliable. I know a lot of people complain about them, but I had no problems with them at all.
 
I got tripod webspace

http://cdudeuk18.tripod.com - just not used at all now.
But both are down atm ... as i'm doing webhostit.co.uk in around 12 days ...

my uk space will be upgraded to cgi and php support ... which means i have my site there .... YAY

My site IS NOT a personal site ... but i resource site ... made up of scripts i have made ... little programs i have made ... useful information ... html templates ... graphics ... games stuff ( screenshotss , reviews , previews ) ....

i was too late to get an account and i only recently needed .htaccess. i knew that f2s was around but never could sign up so i moved on :rolleyes:
 
Spaceports

I think Spaceports has won the best for features. The 20th worst for tech support. i also don't like them 'coz thier administrator (Simon1) redureced my post cont today in thier forums from 260 to 5:( . for limitations 10th worst.
