can you change owners using joker?

i registered a domain, but want to change the name it's registered to. someone said you have to pay a fee ??

if that is the case, can i move it to another registrar that wouldn't charge me for that?

YES, you can change owner using joker!

B U T . . . .

For this you need pay one year registration fee, without have an outstanding claim;

eg your domain expires on 25 Mars 2001, it will be after you make the transfer, till 25 Mars 2002

>>someone said you have to pay a fee ??

Yup, I read it also on the old freewebspace forum.

Here : http://domain.2start.nu you can make changing the ownership for free. (like all other changings for the domain)

Hopefull you can solver your problems.

Joker require you to fill in a form and post it with a fee (I think $25) so its important to get it right.

Interestingly with .UK domains you get a printed certificate (to hang on the wall!) and if you want to change the owner you just fill out the back and send it off - no fee and its a very simple system.

Oooo, I want a certificate to hang on MY wall! Boy, that's being geeky but I don't care, heh. I have a big poster of the 216-Color Webmaster's Palette (visibone.com) up there which already makes people wonder.

transfer off core

Does it cost anything to transfer domains from core(joker) to another registrar like opensrs?

tips

Change owner's template from COCO-xxx to COCO-yyy will cost you 25 bucks while modify information within that COCO-xxx will cost you nothing . here is the tip I receive from joker.

##############################
in case you want to modify the addressfields of your
Holder/Owner-contact, please do the following tasks:

( 1. modify your COCO. )
2. modify your DOMAIN.
3. wait some minutes and check the results
in our whois:
https://joker.com/cgi-bin/jokerwhois.cgi?lang=EN

The first two tasks can be done in our service-zone (CHANGES/SERVICE).

I know there are a good amount of people who like Joker, but I can't figure out why. These *must* be people who don't use an OpenSRS registrar.

Chicken,
It depends on the Euro currency position in relation to the currency you pay your vredit card bill in.

Its a lot cheaper for me to use Joker than Opensrs unless you know an opensrs reseller who is doing one off domains for less than $10 US.

Gordon

They are out there, though I forget which. Joker ends up being in the $10-$11 range and for the added buck, I'd take OpenSRS. But that's preference, and many people will want to save that dollar or two.

To avoid all problems registering domains at joker esp. registering domains for your clients , remember to register one domain at one time(becuse if you use multiple domain registration process, every domain's owners will use the same template).
Guess problem of owner changing cost can refer to core, here is what joker told me:

####################
Because of the checks beeing made by ourselfs and
CORE-central (in switzerland) using REGULAR
MAIL (not E-mail) the request may take 14-19 days
from the day you send the template.

As a result of the internal structure of CORE - in
case our checks did not show up any failure -
ourselves are allowed to modify the admin-contact
only. Modifications of the owner-contact are up to
CORE-central.
##############################

Opensrs downside is that there is no template for every contact information . If you have many domain registered with them and these domains have the same contact information.ie billing contact and you are going to change your billing contact address , you must login to each domain to make change individually which may take several hours.

But that is not the point since their open system can beat.
