I find MySpace as an excellent resource for young aspiring bands and musicians in particular to expose their talents and that's what I go there for, is to check out these talents.
It is solely up to each individual what they go there for and in no way should the service be degraded because one doesn't have the same taste in music etc.
Of course the ads are annoying. But the ads make it the reliable service it is today. Just like any hosting service, which in theory is what MySpace is, that provide a free service to its members, it cannot be done without some form of financial backing.
