Donate to school club ;) Good cause.

Hey guys,

My school has just started up a web design and computer technology club. Kids are VERY interested in this club, but we have a problem....

Our school has had many bomb threats lately (all of them were hoax), by a bunch of low lives, each bomb threat costs the township 15,000, we had about 35 this year so far which adds up to 525,000. Our township is in dept and cut spending on school clubs. Our township WAS upgrading all the computer in our school untill this bomb threats came in, now they can only afford to upgrade the wires on the internet,

Anyway, our club has no money and with no money we cant get computers to work with and to work on, so heres what I need from you. For some people i may actually be doing a favor, I want all your old computers, if they work ill take them. I do have minium specs for them. Also old hard drives, CD-RW DVD or CD ROM drives are needed if they work.
Desktop min specs if possible:
-10 GB HD
-128 MB Ram (At least 2 slots for memory)
-Windows 98 SE or above OS if possible (will take macs too)


If you have mouses and keyboards that you want to donate (must be in a clean and working condition) that would be great!

Maybe your office is getting rid of some computers that work? We'll take them, smaller desktops like school and office computers is what we really want but desktops are fine.

Also, since alot of kids in this club aren't very wealthy, some working laptops would be nice so they could have something to use at their homes. Same specs as above for the laptops if possible, less RAM i can survive with aswell, no lower than 64 MB.

In return i will put ads on my hosting website, and school newspaper forums and homepage, I will also give you much thanks in our clubs brochure for all your help, this is a very good cause and I think you will feel real good donating, I dont want your money, i just need your old computers that you may be throwing out.

Of corse if you are a wholesaler and want to donate some new PCs or laptops, or newer refurbs, those are accepted, but thats for your people who really can afford that, if you cant PLEASE do not donate that kinda stuff, I dont want to take any of your money, because i feel thats taking your hard earned money right out of your pocket.

Where are you located and how would we "donate" these computers to you? It costs around 40 USD to ship a computer in NA.
 
If anyone is in the NY or 5 Boroughs area and Long Island, CT, Jersey that helps, I will gladly pickup and drop off equipement for him. FREE, so no shipping costs.
 
Im in Middletown NJ which is near NYC, pick up and drop off would be excellent, my friends and I would greatly appreciate your donations for our Middle school. Donating PCS would have to be shipped to me, tell me the weight and combined PCs are are interested in donating and ill see what I can do shippingwise.
 
This seems really fishy. What is your school? Do they have a website? Is there a way to contact the school directly, or a club adviser.
 
Yes a school contact is needed. Wouldn't the school be a better place for them to be shipped to? :S
 
We could probably rent some old comps out in the NY area. But a legal document would need to be signed and witnessed by the head of your school and a lawyer. I would need contact information for the school to arrange this, and also i would not be able to send anything to a personal address, it would have to be sent to your schools address.

The legal document would be that you paid for any damage done to the computers and returned them in 1 year (or paid a set amount to keep them) ect. A lawyer would be able to draw up the document.
 
You're gonna need to PM a mod/admin the name of the school and the contact person there so we can verify this. Otherwise this thread is going in the trash.

There's a lot of people on the Internet who don't mind sending someone a free computer, or donating it to a school, but to lie and swindle them is not just unethical, but it's just wrong.
 
I would really have liked to help but as I am in the UK it would cost alot of $ to get some computers out to you. Nevermind, hosting-shack and a few others seem to be willing to help. Good luck.
 
Good luck, I just threw out about 7 P3's, and a couple P2's a few weeks ago, so it's a bit late for me.
 
wow i guess I wasn't prepared for this, i just needed a few old comps that worked, they dont need OS, i can install linux or windows on em. If you really need to I can get ahold of the club avisor, but the club hasn't been registered with the township yet so i dont have any legal documents, but I got my computer teacher to happily sponcor us, what we're going to be using these PCs for is a summer club since we can use the school in the summer becuz they are using it summer school in July and in august they schools wants to "save money" but not letting anything go on in there, just a few janitors keeping things clean. Anyway if their is anyway I can get these without getting legal docs that would be great, but if not i dont know what to say, becuz i dont have any on me

You are making this very hard to work with, if you cannot provide any proof that this is really for a legitimate casue, then you will get absolutely nowhere.
 
This isn't a lie, its just a club that needs some pcs to check out so kids can basicly check em out, we can teach them how it works inside, and also I can teach them Linux, webhosting and how to use a computer through a comand prompt interface. Of corse i respect all your options and understand that their are alot of scammers out there, i personally got scammed by a guy a few days ago getting a laptop off WeBidz, so I know where your comming from. Anyway contact me if you have any more questions or are interested in donating. Also, we'd need to keep these pcs since some will be taken apart and/or used with mew OS, cd/dvd drives ETC..


Not trying to go nowhere, im not asking for a bunch of brand new dell XPS's or anything, im basicly asking for that junk you may have hanging around in your garage, if you live in the NYC area i even had a guy HotWheelz offer to pick up the parts.
 
Why dont you talk to the princple Monday and let him know some donors maybe calling him at the school to verify this is legit. Then you can give the number to an admin and they can let everybody else know whats going on.

That's the least he could do. People are trying to help you man, give them a number if your legit. Don't post it here, send it to a mod like someone above said and let them OK it.
 
Yeah, I don't see what's so hard. Sounds as though your just trying to make a quick buck off other peoples old investments. It especially made me suspicious when you said they need to ship it to you. Why not the school? Why can't the school handle this? If it's going to be at your house than the school needs to verify this etc. Don't try and scam people out of computers they could be donating to a real cause instead of some little noob trying to make money from other peoples old investments!
 
I also agree. This seems fishy, since he seems to be refusing to let an admin know the contact info, so he can just see that the thing is legit.

Man, there are plenty of people that want to help you, really there are. All it takes is one, ten-digit number PMED to an admin, and you can get the stuff.

Yeah seems pretty strange.

If you can gimme the url to the school and if i call the number that i get when i who is the domain, then i'm fine, but i am also in the uk, and would only be able to give parts.

Let me see, you want PCs donated, but you are paying the shipping? Or do the donators pays that too? You are (admittedly) 13. I'm thinking you want the PCs to set up a hosting service but your previous begging posts didn't get any action, so now you try deceiving our members. I suggest you start doing your schooling and maybe learn something that will benefit you later in life ;)
