'Cause they've got pop-ups now.... and they have idoit visitors who click on the "Click here to get rid of the pop ups! :(" banners thinking it will really get rid of 'em when all it really does is generate revenue for them, so they'll still be around for some time.
 
i have look around a fair bit

for host for a 22 meg avi i swear i have check out
%99 of the hosts out they, by upload the 22 meg file then see if the thing download at any speed your can't get speed with large files none have any speed :( the only way is to break up the files or get ahost for the file

for my site they are one of the only useful
free host out they have ad banners & 3 meg file limit
but you get fast host ftp, 100 meg if you need more then that just apply twice or 8 times if you need 800 megs
no file type limit ( zip, rar, ace, exe, anything )

crosswind are very slow the popups sux big time

spaceport ( i dont like when something loads that takes over your system this seem to happen when i load my spaceports site a pop up of some kind :eek:P

why do you need a short domain name ?

best bet is to sign up with websolo.com 9.99$ a month for 10$ big activation fee, but they pay for the domain and it works out

i mean you wont find that, too many people ask for that but i learned not everything in life is free, so i saved up my money and bought some space and a domain

its way better then a FWP and it can be cheap

Once again, warez, gamez, appz, cracks? What do you need all the space for. Seems anyone who uses lots of space will be using it for warez. Some people have legit download sites, but you won't find many on free servers. And, if you want all that space, do you expect to get it for free? Ad banners have a purpose, to supply the user with a free service. Without them, the host has no income, so they loose money, wither up and die.

If you need all that, why don't you go to a pay host for 10$ a month + reliability?
 
Even with paid hosting, it's still hard to find one that offers "unlimited" space.
 
I believe http://www.hispeed.net/ and http://www.simplenet.com/ are paid hosts that offer "unlimited" space with "unlimited" bandwidth. Hispeed.net for only $9.95 / month.
You know why a lot of paid hosts charge extra for more space. Pure greed! Disk space is cheap! And while there is really no such thing as "unlimited," it is not uncommon for any host, free or paid, to be able to afford all the disk space it needs to accommodate all of its members.

I don't have $10 a month-but I am very close to finding a host that I want-I am just checking now. I will let you know if they are good.

I was with Elitecities, but I have found out their problems, I think. I will tell you if the next one is any good.
 
Actually, why not just tell us the name of every host you find and we could all try it and see if it's good ourselves? Having many people test it gives a far more accurate result of the actual quality of the host.
 
You see, I am trying to compile all the best free items on the internet into my site, and then I will post everything on it. It should be up shortly, so I will tell you the name.
