Hosting bought from Ebay

Which ones can be trusted and which cannot? I saw a lot of great deals. Are they too good to be true? Should I just choose the one that's in the median range, as far as price goes?

Perhaps if you post some here that appeal to you, we can take a look at them for you :)

I agree with you there Vegs, the more I hear about the shonky sales at Ebay, the more I am determined to buy nothing from there.

I would have to agree with everyone above, and say "not recommended"
I dont think one could count on too much service, let alone support. :(
I think its another way to "fill servers quickly" offering the rock bottom pricing.

purchasing hosting from e-bay is not unlike purchasing anything else there.
if you follow these basic suggestions, you should be ok.

1 don't buy from folks you can get no info on.
2 if it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is
3 never spend more than you can afford to completely lose
4 the seller IS out to make money
5 let the buyer beware
6 if it seems shady, it most likely is
7 whats the worst that could happen, because it might.

i've had many problems resoplving issues from e-bay sales gone bad, and they have TRIED to help, but in the long run, were rather lackluster. look at how much they have to police.

personally, i doubt i would EVER buy hosting from e-bay, or any other similar auction type site. much better to strike a good deal witha good host, then to maybe skin by witha good auction, then be stranded a ways down the line.

this is purely my opinion though, i in no way represent e-bay, and honestly buy and sell there rather often. but i ALWAYS follow those guidelines.
maybe i am a prude, but once bitten, twice shy.

Well buying hosting from ebay is totally different from buying products.

You see, what may look like a hosting company on ebay, may actually be a terrible hosting company.

Like web-xperts.com for example. They have a pretty good positive feedback but honestly their services are terrible. They also overload their servers terrible. They were even banned from Rackshack.net if I am not mistaken.

I have to agree with everyone here, if you really want to buy hosting off ebay, beware.

Im not saying you wont get it, as you probably will, but this sort of hosting normally cant be sold for one reason or another, most likely due to a bad reputation and/or repeated downtime.

Hosting sold on ebay, is normally the "left-overs".

Hello,

I don't think ebay is the best place to choose your web host. Much better is to check at webhostdir.com or to post request within the forum.

D.
