Hosting services(server) situated in Australia?

Hi,

This is a request for some hosting services prior the actual website's completion. Seeing that the target audience will be for people located in Australia, I've been thinking maybe just see if I can secure some hosting services actually located in Australia somewhere.

With the site, I will be indeed implementing a user check, to determine whether the user is actually located in Australia, so the audience will be purely Australians.

Regarding ads, I suppose this should not be a problem, some sort of banner placement script should be posisble.

The actual nature and detailed description of the site, I do not wish to currently disclose to the public, though I admit it has direct relations to Japanese Anime.

Anyway, I just thought it maybe nicer to be situated in Australia, all data would be national, and on some ISP's it would not be counted towards data allowances for users. Also response times would be reduced (latency).

The site will not host any forms of media apart from typical website graphics.

In the end, I understand that hosting costs in Australia are very much more in comparison to US counterparts, though, I'm just asking.

At the moment, I have one possible solution, which would be bur.st.

The actual project plan has begun, though actual programming and visual aspects will begin in feb.

Anyway, thanks for reading. Somewhat expecting minimal or no response, so it's alright :rolleyes2

You may want to look for a host with servers in California instead of Australia.

Bandwidth in Australia can cost about AUD$1750 for 1/2mbit or 120GB. That is far too expensive for any sort of webhosting that I know of.

Majority of traffic is Australian users, and seeing that Australia has some local networks data may not be charged (like PIPE for instance).

Unless you chose to use a US server for yourself and an "Australian" server for your customers. Though seeing that your server NETPROSMART.COM is in the US, and you are living in the US also, why would you want any relations to Australia ... I'm kinda assuming that you really didn't read what I was asking for.

Basically looking for an server located in Australia.

So you can set me up with an account in Australia ... don't care about anywhere else for the mean time.

Well seems that guy was just getting every thread and just posting "We can do it, *****.com" without actually reading on what they were replying to.

Sorry, though I fail to see how the UK is geographically close to Australia ...

Nothing beats the response time of a geographical local server. Plus, PIPE networks , and WAIX and all that maybe better for users, seeing ALL viewers of the site will be Australian ... as I stated I'll be implementing a check for aussies only. Also another point, would be that Aussie servers would generally be more selective and have less accounts per server.

There are tonnes of US located servers, offering free services.

Leme make this clear in this request. I'm only keeping my eye out for a possibility that someone can work something out, though I don't have very high hopes ... nonetheless ...

Looking for: An Australian located server which can supply me with an account. Not interested in Australian based individual renting a US located server.

1) Don't have that type of spare hardware lying around.
2) Even if I had 512k uplink thats still very slow to generally run a site on, seeing that 1 user could max the connection out, let alone numerous.
3) Power usage
4) My home ain't a data center and doesn't have the proper connectivity.

Thought such an idea would be not advised, in any case, people in Australia have one of the worst broaband ... so why would you bother, seeing that in other countries they don't anyway.
