Hi,
I am making a project. Its something like this that i have realized that there is no good free forum hoster out there . Some are slow while most of them have multipopus with stupid banner ads. So i guessed if I start my own forum hosting that will not having any ads only a text link i can make some real loads of unique visitors to my site. The only problem is that I need some real good transfer and php/mysql. Any one interested in my project do PM me or mail me at usmanrules@hotmail.com with your features and what do you want in return. I would be very happy if I could get a host which can offer me somethin which I need.
 
There is a reason why there's no good forum host, and that they are all slow. You can't pack a server with forums, it just doesn't work. If your aim is to get some paid space and be a forum host, then your plan is severely flawed. Your host allows only a certain number of mySQL connections, generally enough for one moderately-low traffic board.

You are going to need a dedicated server if you really want to do this, and as I said, there's a reason why all the forum hosts are slow.

That's not true. Aimoo, in my opinion, is the best forum service, but in order to get its full range of features, one must pay. Actually, a month ago, all Aimoo boards were paid boards, but recently, Aimoo has reopened the doors to their free hosting. However, to tell you the truth, the features provided with the free hosting flat-out sucks. :confused2

They also aren't all slow. For me, Aimoo and Proboards are around the same speed as FWS.net (and the ping results reflect that). FWS.net is one of the fastest sites that I visit (remember that I live in China and I only visit English sites) besides sites like Google (now blocked), Yahoo, etc.. On the other hand, a handful of regular paid webhosts are painfully slow.

If the free forum hosts that use YaBB were to turn to something like phpBB, I can guarantee you that they would be a lot faster.

So Aimoo just sined up for a hosting account to power all these forums like this person wants to do? I don't think so. Maybe you missed the point...

Yeah, I know that's impractical. I was just saying the part about all remote hosts being bad isn't true.
