is flashget a virus?

because the new trend Internet security virus scanner seems to think every one of its executables and DLLs are some kind of virus. And also there is no information on the link to its virus encyclopaedia, which is helpful :confused4

there is adware info on trend's site, but the the warning was NOT about adware... but spyware...
and even the exe was flagged
but no reasons as 'why'

I ran flashget for awhile, i think i had more popups because of it than anything i've ever seen

Don't install it as freeware/adware, select the shareware version. Then get it registered, and it'll become a fine piece of software.

Hi,

Actually many anti-adwares / anti-spywares freewares or sharewares are adwares / spywares.

I use a foolish method to clean them. I format and re-install my hard disk about every three months.

Whenever I need online credit card purchase, I have to format my hard disk first.

Whenever you are unsure about a file download just backup your computer so that you can do a restore in the case of a very bad adware problem. I have a old computer that I use for internet and whenever the spyware gets really bad I just swipe it.

It's too bad that when I use it (no offense flashget users) I never even get 10% of my normal speed for downloads... maybe this software is meant for DSL/Broadband/etc. people? (I have dial-up)

True, and yet MY problem is that I use Mozilla, and it cannot finish downloads AT ALL!!?!?!?
Aah, better slow and steady than dead in the water.
Every time I delete the 'maybe corrupted' settings files, start afresh, it works again for a run or two... ahh I have to use FG even for a tiny 100kb file... :cry2:
