Is there a need for an International traffic program?

Just curious on your thoughts on if there is a need for an International traffic program? (Non-US traffic)

If there is, how would you like to see such a program structured?

Input always appreciated….
 
I think the language barrier is the main problem. You can't have a program advertising in one language on a site that is in another. If you do start some sort of program like this, it might be difficult to attract advertisers, then again, maybe their is an untapped market.

Yes, if the Americans spoke English it would be so much easier. :D

Seriously though, I don't think a truly global traffic program would work. It would be better to specialise in a certain (non-US) country - especially at first.

If the idea catches on, separate programs could be included for additional countries one at a time.

I wouldn't think an Australian site would have much need for Canadian visitors for example - unless the content was of a global nature, in which case a global traffic program would be of more use.
 
I am referring to a program that all ads would be translated to the countries they targeted.

Currently i have 22 countries that i am able to target. and working on more as i go along... The question, is there a need to monetize your international traffic?
 
Well that sounds rather pointless to me. What would be the point of gaining extra visitors to your site if they didn't understand the content.

Most sites that pay for traffic do so because they're selling a product or service, and those from other countries are less likely to purchase anything other than online services such as hosting (and even then they would need to translate the rules etc.)

For example, I live in the UK, and even though US sites are in English (sort of anyway), I rarely purchase products from them due to the added shipping costs and taxes I would have to pay.

I do not believe you read my thread correctly.. The advertisements that we promote will be translated to the correct country. Example, if you are from Italy, you would get a creative that was completely translated in Italian. The actual vendor would be from Italy, or would be promoting a product that was targeted towards an Italian demographic. (Eliminates your shipping cost problem)

Keep in mind this program would do all the traffic routing for you. so a Canadian user would never see an Ad for an Australian user, etc.

So if that makes sense... if you had the traffic, would you promote a program like this?

Surely if a site is in Italian, and the company is based in Italy, the ads would already be in Italian? If they weren't, then the site content is unlikely to be in Italian (which is what I was referring to earlier).

Or are you suggesting that you provide some sort of banner creation service/utility, with a text editor interface in different languages?

The demographic targetting of ads part is already used by many ad companies. I haven't really taken a close enough look at traffic programs to see if they offer the same though. If I wanted to attract UK visitors only, I'd probably choose one that specialised in UK sites.

I suppose it would be an advantage to be able to have ads placed on US sites (for instance) as I imagine a lot of UK surfers are frustrated when they go to a site and find it's too US orientated to be helpful.

I still don't get why the translation part is needed though.

Yes, you are correct many companies have geo-targeting capabilities, however I don't see many companies offering this service to a webmaster that does not have this service available to him/her.

For instance, I’m sure you have traffic to your site coming from all over the globe... and let’s just say 40% of your network is getting traffic from Austria, Brazil, & China. Do you right now have the ability to monetize that traffic? If so, I would be interested to see who you are using.

It is of my belief that there are enough webmasters out there that are not effectively monetizing there Non-US traffic. Just wondering if there is a need or not?

I'm not sure about non-English speaking countries, but Focusin and others tailor the display of their banner ads to the country the visitor is in.

The easiest way to tell whether they're likely to do that is to check the documentation to see which countries they accept applications from.

I quite often see banners for UK companies on sites with US or Canadian content, but the only revenue program I've used personally that does that is Focusin.

Then again, I've only used one or two.
