That statement SOUNDS good, but any hiring manager would know that it's just spewed bull.

I should know - I would chuck any app with that statement when I hired people.

Just say, "My outgoing and fun personality fits right in with this company. I can meet and greet customers on a personal level and make sure that they leave with a positive reflection on Big W's (?) customer service."

Just use normal language. I mean really, you're not a CEO. So don't write like one.

Yeah, but what you wrote sounds pretty cheesy, too. That's the problem with this kind of question - you're going to come off sounding sucky whatever you say. It's just a stupid question. Why do they think you want to work there? Money, of course.
Last time somebody asked me this question, I said, "Well, I saw your position advertised, and I often look in your stores and purchase clothes, and I'm looking for work experience so I decided to give it a go, basically". Which was pretty much the exact truth. But whatever you say, it's going to be a load of rubbish, or sound like a big suck-up. If I was writing the application forms, I would NEVER put that question.

Big W, huh? You could write this:

"I wish to work in Big W as I am looking for work and experience while I finish my education, and I feel I have the skills and potential to be a fantastic representation of your stores."

It just depends on the language you use. If you don't use a certain kind of language, don't go near it. If you're a person who uses an extended vocabulary, then I wouldn't be afraid to show it off. The only way it can backfire is if you use dozens of complicated words and go into the interview and say, 'Sup, I came to ask 'bout your job?'

No it's not. :confused2

It's a division of Woolworths Limited.

Okay, I doubt you can muff that question. I work in a similar store, and I had to fill out a 4 page application for it. They seem to hire anyone that applies. Just focus on your strengths in the application and interview, and you'll be fine.

Well, when I aplied I said:
"I thought this experience could help me out in later life, to have ****** as a reference I'm sure people would be impressed, I having me as an employee would make your company better"

or something, tell them what they want to hear

They could sure do with a few more employees, especially up here. I have had to waylay an office worker to get him/her to find a sales assistant. Beats standing around like a stale bottle of beer waiting for someone to approach us.....slack!...:confused2

K Mart in the US has gone bust???
Bust as in closed, no. Woolworths has, but Kmart's still kicking. Joining Woolworths, Ames and Roses are totally dead in the US now, I think.
