Hello everyone. This is my first post here. However I've been reading though the forum. So, here's my request.
My friend is starting an online community, and I've offered to help him, since I'm a little more versed with CMS and forum software, and with web design and administration in general. The community would be completely non-profitable, and it should contain a portal and a forum, which would both be in Croatian (our native language). It's about free artistry, mostly in our country - free artistry such as literature (mostly), but music, image creation and manipulation and anything else goes as well. Also, we'd protect the content with the Creative Commons license.
So, I'd say I need something that could provide me a reasonable web space (I'm guessing that about 300 MB should be enough for now, just to stay on the safe side), a MySQL database with either no limit other than the webspace limit itself or a reasonable limit, we've seen similar forums which really can't fit into a 10MB database, and a few neat PHP functions such as phpmail (smtp would also do, if we can send e-mails to our users via gmail that way). My aim is to have a SMF forum and Joomla or Drupal CMS.
The website we currently have can be seen at www.satiri.co.nr, but, since we are both college students and our funds are scarce at it's best, we can't afford to pay for features such as phpmail at the moment.
We have no problem with ads if someone needs us to put them in order to make at least some money on us, as long as we can choose how and where to put them on the main page (or anywhere else), and again, as long as they're in reasonable quantity.
I hope someone can offer me something here. Thanks in advance!
