Question about freespaces.com...

Hello all,

I signd up at http://www.freespaces.com because on their home page it says they offer "Unlimited Disk Space - Enough to store thousands of free hosting pages! Unlimited Hits - Get as many hits as your site can get! Zero Advertising - Zero advertising to steal away your hard earned visitors!" all for free!

They give you a starting limit of 50MB of space and 5000MB of transfer, and if you want more, you're supposed to contact them to request more (or Unlimited Bandwidth and Space)... it says "Please contact us if you need more and we'll take care of it." So I emailed them at both support@freespaces.com and webmaster@freespaces.com with my id (like you're supposed to)... that was 2 weeks ago and still have not heard anything from them. I sent another one a week ago... and still have not heard anything from them. So I sent another one today and hope I get a reply back with more Bandwidth and Space!

My questions is, does anyone have hosting through them and how the heck do you get a reply back from them? Is this even an active site anymore?

And YES, there is such thing as Unlimited Bandwidth and Space, it just takes a while to find a site with it!

P.S. I signed up at freespaces.com to get away from HostUltra and ALL their millions of virus infecting pop-ups! lol

NO because that doesn't exist so pls refrase that.

If you have seen a Hard Driva with UNLIMITED space pls ship one to me!

When they say unlimited all they mean is you can use as much as you need.
It is not literally "UNLIUMITED" as the hosting company grows with more people they need space to accommodate those aswell you when the disk space starts getting finished then they take action by seeing who is using how much and start putting p[revised limitations.

So that is one thing clear UNLIMITED SPACE DOES NOT EXIST!
 
I think they meant unlimited in the sense of "If you need it we'll give it to you." Do they have a support system?
 
I think they offer more web space as you need it (and are legit). You can't just sign up, and request for unlimited space without a valid reason. They are probably ignoring your requests because you don't have a good justification for more space.
 
They probably have in the terms a file size limit to protect against abusers. I think they're one of the better free web hosts.

Does anyone have hosting through them and how the heck do you get a reply back from them? Is this even an active site anymore? Do they have a forum?

The last update from them, when you sign in, is from 2005-01-18.

Just look at the website itself. Does it even look professional? Do you think they are reliable enough for your web hosting needs? After that, I think you might want to move on to more reliable webhosts that you know have a workable business model to survive in this market.
 
Ok.... so then what do you suggest? What's another webhost that's free, lets you hotlink, allows .php, has a big filesize limit (1 to 3 MBs) and has a lot of bandwidth and space? Or will let you request more bandwidth and space if you need it?

For space, all I need is maybe 300 to 500 MBs... right now, my website is almost 100 MBs, but it's always growing, so in like a year it could be 500 MBs!

And I need A LOT of bandwidth, I don't want to have to worry about my website shuting down because I'm out, and I get over 200 hits a day, so it's easy to use up 500 MBs of bandwidth in, lile 2 hours! lol

... And please NOT HostUltra! Like it said, I signed up at freespaces.com to get away from HostUltra and ALL their millions of virus infecting pop-ups!
 
.... Oh yeah, and PLEASE NO "post on our forum to join" sites... I hate that!!!

It takes forever to sign up for something that should only be a few minutes.
 
All I'm looking for is A TON of bandwidth, 100 to 500 MBs of space, php, hotlinking (atlest for images .jpg .gif .jpeg, because I want to be able to use my host as an image host, for avatars and images on my forum, along with it being my webhost), and no ads or atleast a tiny banner thing....

My site is a safe site for kids, it's a kids toy site, just so ya know! ;)

Either Hosting Offers or Recommendations? LOL One or the other.... if you want a free site, stop by my forum and request one. Or Let the hosts here know that you are looking to compare plans. Maybe even since this is two pages, start a new thread in the Free Webspace category requesting a Free host.... be sure to be VERY Thorough on what you require.

** some free hosts like myself, require Ads placed somewhere (you're control)

** Other hosts require posting in their forums to remain active. So its all a matter of preference

No, you started this thread asking about someone, seems now you decided. So I'd say, start a new thread asking for Free OFfers
