satellite TV phone

i don't know if this topic is already posted but i found it very interesting.. i've read about samsung coming out with tv phone earlier but now its out (samsung SCH-B250).. judged by the review it seems pretty impressive.. however it is only available in south korea at this moment (i heard something similar is available in japan).. the question is how long will it take to reach north america.. any thought?

Latency would be extraordinarily high if implemented in the US(or anywhere in the world where the population is dispersed over a large area, unlike Korea and Japan) under the current wireless/satellite structure.

i believe in korea the signal is mostly available in big cities..

Verizon already offers a similiar service. Even if it was satellite, the latency has nothing to do with the way you watch TV, since most folks in the U.S. already have satellite TV.

But the more important question is, who wants to watch TV on such a tiny screen?

You're missing the point, Robert. It's a satellite videophone service. Similar to what they have news reporters use that are out in the sticks to talk to the news anchors. You can tell there is a large delay, and that's using professional equipement. The delay will be much more pronounced on consumer-grade products.
