anyone use them before they seem to support quite alot of stuff, php, mysql, cgi, ssi 75mb and alot of other stuff

They are a scam so watch out!!!

I tried to sign up and have found that they are a scam. Why?? This is the true story. I have spent so much time signing up affiliates for them since they require you to have 10 sign ups with them before they can activate your account and set up the FTP for them. Well, I spent so much time signing up and I KNOW for sure that I signed up for at least 10 to fill my end of the bargain, but they email me back saying that I did not truly sign up. I was PISSED OFF after this because I spent so much time signing up and made them some money and they don't even activate my account. They are scams!!!.....take the money that you made for them from your sign ups...and don't even activate your account. Watch out!!

well i just signed up right now, hope it's for the best (i didnt sign up for any of that crap mentioned by JustinSurfer) :D

I just signed up to them, but if they make me sign up to any of those services so they can get money, then they can just kiss my booty:D

Look guys, S4W is a legitamate host, and the services they provide are fantastic. It's not a scam, but the whole thing is sorted by a single guy, and he has to deal with tons and tons of requests and applications for hosting. If your site is of really low quality, or doesn't follow the site's guidelines then obviously he doesn't want to waste his money on buying bandwidth and space for you. It doesn't have to be the coolest site on earth, it just can't suck ass.

As for the 'support programs' those are needed basically to pay for the site. Once it gets going it shouldn't need as many, and will end up probably not needing them at all. Of course it's all down to choice, whether you would like to have to spend an hour signing up for programs, or pay $100-$200 for the same quality hosting.

The exact same thing happened to me too!!!

They checked my site and they decided that it was good enough to host it and then they sent me an email requiring me to sign up with at least 10 of their affiliates program to make money for them. I don't think they have "tons of requests" as to be too busy because they email me back telling me sign up for 10 of their affiliate program in a very short time.

I really don't mind taking the time to sign up for 10 of their affilate programs because I realize that they do need to earn some money to keep their hosting service up. BUT the thing that PISSED ME OFF is that they take the money that I earned for them from my sign ups (all 10 of them because my e-mail is now filled with full of junk mails sent from 10 of those affiliate programs that I signed up) and won't even activate my account. Furthermore, when I asked them how much more do I still need to sign ups they don't even answer my e-mail for 2 days after repeated emails were sent. If they are nice enough, they should just sent me an e-mail telling me how much more I still need to sign up, just in case some of the sign ups did not go through. Again, I know that all 10 went through because I have the proofs in my email. I probably made for them more than $10. I just wasted all of those time signing up for NOTHING!
So watch out folks!!! This is a scam!!! You will be PISSED OFF if you try to sign up. This is the first time that I have wrote something bad about a certain free web host.

Ok, I must admit I'm not the guy who sorts through the applications, but there are a ton of people pleased with our service.

There are instructions in the auto-responder to compile an email with the comfirmation emails (ovbiously removing passwords) and sending those in. Anyway -- it shouldn't be that hard, and I'm pretty sure if your site is decent then Jim (the Admin) will set up your site.

He is constantly sorting through emails -- and the reason that you got emailed back so quick is probably because you caught him just as he was checking...

Really, it is a good service and worth while, it is not, and I will repeat, NOT A SCAM.

Not a scam?

If it's not a scam, then why was I and others rejected after we DID sign up for 10 affiliates, and told that it's because we DIDN'T?

This is what I got from my email after my first application:

Congratulations, you have been accepted into being hosted by
Source4Webmasters.com. We would appreciate your help in supporting us,
if you havn't done so already, by signing-up for the free stuff found
at http://source4webmasters.com/sections.php?op=viewarticle&artid=46
(You're supposed to sign up for Ten of those Program before we give you
your FTP and subdomain)

So this mean that my site was decent enough to be hosted.
Also, I always confirm the email that was sent to me by those affiliates. Now I have tons of junk mails from those affiliates and get nothing in return. So frustrating!!!

It looks like a good service from all the features that are posted on the website BUT it is a scam because it does not set up the account after you sign up for 10 of those affiliates to make money for them. At least have the decency to tell the people that have signed up how many more affiliates need to be sign up and which affiliates have been received. You just can't take the money that was earned from the people that have signed up for your affiliates and run. That is not nice and not professional.
