Addon Domians

As i am relatively new to owning websites, i don't quite understand somehting about addon domains. I know that an addon domain points to a subdirectory in your account. So say i had a.com pointing to b.com/sub.
If i typed in www.a.com into my browser would it redirect me to www.b.com/sub or would it show a.com and just have to pages stored at b.com/sub? If you followed that. Sorry for the rather long explanation. Can anybody help me on this?:confused4

Hey there,
The Addon domains feature allows you run serveral websites from a single account.

The main difference between Addon domains and Parked domains is that these don't have to be pointed at the root of the domain.

You can have a domain called www.myhostingaccount.com and then point domains at folders within the account.

eg. www.mysecondwebsite.com could be pointed at www.myhostingaccount.com/site2/
Any one who enters www.mysecondwebsite.com into a browser will never know it is being hosted within another account, it will appear as it has its own web hosting account.

So yes, it would show the .com, people would NOT see it as a redirect!

Hope that helped,

Here you go...
(this is for a cPanel account, but you should get the idea)

Add-On Domains
To add an addon domain to your account, you will need to first login to cPanel. Then click ‘Add-On’ domains. Enter your new doamin in the ‘Domain’ input field. Please do not include http:/example/ or www. You will then need to create the directory for the add-on domain. The directory that you create is the ‘public_html’ or ‘www’ directory doamin. So if your new add-on domain is example.com, and you make the directory ‘example’, and place the file index.html in the ‘example’ directory, it will look like:

http://example.com/index.htm

However, it will also be accessable through:
http://primarydomain.com/example/index.html

You MUST register your add-on domain through a valid registar before it will function. Some examples of valid registars are listed below. Another possible reason why it is not functioning is that you have nto changed the nameservers attached to the doamin to match those of FuryLIVE. If you need the nameservers that your account is hosted on, please contact the support department.

Valid Domain Registars
iPower - http:/ipower.com
GoDaddy - http://godaddy.com
Yahoo - http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/doamins
Register.com - http://register.com
