Adult hosting and the law

Look up 18 U.S.C. 2257
I've seen a provider asking for this from people hosting adult sites
 
USC 2257? That's when you host your own site and you have models. The 2257 requires 2 copies of identifications, and a signed release form.... A web host doesn't have to do all that.
 
What I wanted to say is that a provider is asking for this from people who host adult sites on their network, not that the provider himself fills it out :)

That's all I know regarding legalities with adult websites. Maybe someone can give more info?

That sounds like a good style of practice, but a webmaster could just add new models without USC2257 and the host wouldnt know any different. I am sure though the hosting company would not be held liable, because adult hosts would be far too risky to open!

The ToS and AUP protects us. No blaming us for the content you host!
 
In my country the following rule applies (and I think that is the case in most countries)

The one publishing the data (Web Host) is the one responsible for the data on HIS Server.
So the webmaster who got the hosting does not have any risk at all.

Web Hosters should be aware of this, the Web Host is always responsible.
(And funny disclaimers don't change a thing in the above rule)

PaulP, you are Dutch right? Aren't laws in your country regarding pornographic content very leaneant? I have seen many adult hosts using servers from Amsterdam. But I could be wrong, just my 2cents =D

That's correct, I am Dutch. :p

But lenient ? NO, not at all.

What you see is all footage/photo's with Copyrights.
Don't even try and copy any of it since you are extremely fined for it. It really costs a lot of money if they catch your hosting (and they will).

That's why I am so scared of having Copyrighted material on my hosting.

Amsterdam is full of drugs and sex, but all bound to very strict rules. (That is mostly the part that most people don't know)

USC 2257 is only for US servers
Find out the online porn rules in your country....
Try and keep away from the US
USC 2257 killls 1000s of pic posting sites
Becuse well yeah... they need all this photo ID and forums just to host there 1 pic!
