dns help

I transfered an account from another server. I set up the dns to point to my
dns servers:

38.108.177.144
38.108.177.145

However when i go to ping or access my url i get a different ip.


I set up ns3 and ns4 of windowgate.net to resolved, i have set the correct dns
on the domain end, however i go to ping it i get this ip:
38.99.109.40

I have no clue where that ip came from?

I have rebuild the vps and install cpanel manually.


Any ideas guys?

I'm a bit confused by your post. What domain are you talking about? And what IP address should it point to? I recommend using DIG to check what happens exactly. It'll give you a clue on which nameserver is responding authoritatively and is telling you the IP address.

Verify that you setup your hostname entries correctly with your registrar (nameservers). Also, you should be aware that it can take up to 48 hours to resolv correctly.

I'd recommend any host to get a subscription at http://www.dnsstuff.com, it makes it very easy to spot any problems relating to DNS issues.

Their tools have really helped me in the past and still do on a daily basis.
