Flash help please...

I'm really new to flash, is there a way to make an image that changes when you hover over certain areas? I'm trying to make it so the buttons on the image below highlight into a lighter shade of blue when they're hovered over, but the odd shapes keep getting in my way

well, in flash if you enter the editing area of your button,
there are fours available frames
the second one defines the appearance of the button when hovered
so in the second frame enter a keyframe and change it however you want
and it should work

Why don't you use Javascript and/or CSS instead?
