Hosting for footy site

Bad_Moon_Rising

New Member
Hi I am again looking for a little bit of free hosting for my English football site.

what I need is :-

50mb webspace

500mb to 1000mb bandwidth

cpanel

1 mysql database

no forum posting (will gladly put an ad on the main page)

subdomain (alternaltively I do have my own domain, foxesworld.co.uk)

A Bit about the site:-

I have been running the site on freesites.ws for the last two months but I can no longer squeeze it into the 15mb they allow.
The site is php nuke based with a forum that is run from another hosting company.
While at freesites FoxesWorld was generating around 300mb bandwidth a month with approx 500 page views a day

The site is virtually all text so it cuts down on transfer.

I am from the United Kingdom and the site will be in English

After roughly 3 months I would be prepared to pay for the hosting, I tend to give it a try to check speed, uptime and support for a couple of months b4 splashing out on a years hosting.

and lastly I would prefer uk based hosting as this would allow me to upgrade easier, although I can use paypal, this is not a must would be nice :)

ok sorry for the long post, if your still here thanks for reading this far!

I should also add that I did enquire about upgrading my account at freesites.ws but Dominic was unable to accept paypal at this time (something they are working on)

anyone wanting a good host with a small site should check them out as they are very good, with excelent support forums.

http://www.thecoolspot.co.uk - There a free account for if you have a domain. You only get 30MB with it at first, but if you post on the forums you'll get more.

BUT don't let that put you off - when I signed up there the admin said he would upgrade me if I needed more stuff because they've got lots of space... So if you asked nicely, I'm sure he would upgrade to their TCS-50 package (which is what I'm on now - 50MB/500MB BW). Someone asked for an extra database the other day and he aded it straight away! :D The staff there are the friendliest staff I've seen for a hosting company...

I got put on that package straight away so you might be lucky and he might put you on it straight away too. :D

Riverworld.net can give you 100mb space with 2gb data transfer per month. No ads, links, forum posts - just pure clean hosting.

cPanel included - any domain or yourname.riverworld.net

Send me a PM if your interested ;)

Best of luck in your searches,
Have a great day.

We can provide you with everything you ask for at Clubhost.
The specifications you gave give you a lot of account classes
to choose from with no posting requirements. Just about every
account we have will exceed what you have asked for.

With your site at Clubhost, you could actually have your forum
and your phpNuke site located on the same account and not
have to link to two different places anymore!

That's really not much .... not a problem at all.

That's good to know but not really an issue of concern.
40,000 servers running at maximum output capacity couldn't
begin to touch our available bandwidth so the content of
a single site really isn't going to be any concern.

Good! All FREE accounts at Clubhost must be in English
so you obviously won't have any problems with that
particular requirement.

This one line item is probably your #1 reason to go with Clubhost!
We are well established global company with more than 12 years in
the web hosting business. We currently have 32 hosting brand names,
our own data centers as well as rented space at other network's
data centers in strategic locations to put us in just about every
corner of the globe.

Our Clubhost project has been operating a little over 7 years and
has been given seemless direct upgrade paths to several of our
paid hosting brands to make it incredibly easy for you to upgrade
to a paid hosting account with more features and capabilities
at a later date.

If you buy an account with AMZ Web Hosting after being a member
at Clubhost, your free account will be instantly upgraded with no
downtime whatsoever. You will also get a discount for being
a Clubhost member too!

If you buy an account with any of our other hosting brands, we'll
make the transfer as seemless as possible for you and move all
your files for you so everthing will be effortless as well.

One of our data centers is located in London and you can be
provisioned out of that one on paid accounts if you wish.
Just a side note -- Not available for a Clubhost FREE account.

Regarding Paypal, we do support Paypal on all our hosting brands.
Each brand is either "Paypal only" or "mixed Paypal and merchant"
and we do accept payments in British Pounds if you prefer.

Not a problem. My job is to answer posts like these.

As I said, we have no problems with accepting Paypal.
If you want to see the paid account classes that would be the
easiest upgrade from a FREE clubhost account, check out

Firstly thank you to everyone who replied, I really didnt expect so many offers and in such a short space of time too!

All the offers seem to have everything I need at this time, after consideration I have sent a pm to Riverworld.net.

I must say that AMZ you are a credit to your company, you really covered absolutely everything in your reply, however I had already p'med Riverworld before your post. Ironically I did try to sign up for clubhost last night but the sign up was refused. I had joined the forum but I think it was refused on the grounds of my email address.

I have took the liberty of bookmarking all of the offers for future reference and once again thank you for each and everyone of them.

It looks as though I may well get Foxes World live again before the start of the new season.

Cheers everyone :)

Actually it wasn't the email address. The activity logs say that you
didn't enter a login name on the hosting application which is why it failed.

Activity Log said:
[Wed Aug 4 18:46:25 2004] [error]
SIGNUP FAILED: [80.3.x.x] foxesworld@xx.xx didn't choose login name
I'm sitting here looking at the partial application and I'm not really
seeing anything wrong with it other than the login name.

I believe the field is labeled "Username" and the contents of that
field is what will be used as your login name on your hosting
account if the chosen login name is available.

If you make sure to fill in that blank, your application should go
through given what you put down for the rest of the application
questions and your web site will be up and online within minutes!

It's not our fault that you forgot to fill out a required line on
your hosting application. However, since you have had trouble
with it, I'll go ahead and waive the posting requirements on the
500 MB Gold account if you want to go ahead and signup for
that account class. That's much better than the account
class you were originally signing up for. I have already made
a note on your "bmr" forum account at Clubhost.

I know its not your fault, it is obviously an error on my part, I was sure I had filled everything in correctly but I must have left that bit out, I just assumed it might have been because of my hotmail address. (i have not got my isp's email up and running yet since i had major pc problems last week and had to reinstall everything again!)

It is very good of you to offer me the gold account however I would not need anything like that at the moment so maybe you might want to hold onto those resources for a site that may need it more than me!

I'm on my way over to your sign up page now, hopefully i will remember to fill everything in this time!

Thanks for your help and offer :)

Normally that would be correct. However, we made changes to the
signup system about a week ago to allow for hotmail addresses because
everyone still likes to use those despite our warnings that Hotmail has
serious problems with mail queue and delivery of incoming messages.

**CHUCKLE** Resources? ROTFLMAO

If you had an idea the extent of our network resources, you would
understand why I am laughing. It's not a problem, you can have
the 500 MB if you want. Makes no difference to me.

Well that should tell you something shouldn't it? Things are not
always what they appear to be ....

We use a prototype of a program called AMZBoard that was developed
about 3 years ago for our forum site. AMZBoard has the ability to
flawlessly mimic the look and feel of InvisionBoard, IkonBoard, phpBB2,
vBulletin, and Yabb. In fact, it's so good at it that people are very
often confused by it just as you are now. Due to increasing development
costs and lack of real interest, the project was scrapped several
years ago but we are still using the prototype program since we
are sort of stuck with it ....

Our forum community at Clubhost actually isn't phpBB2 but rather
AMZBoard running in full phpBB2 emulation mode.

Unfortunately that has been our downfall a bit too as we are still trying
to figure out how in the world to convert the forum site over to a
real copy of phpBB2 as AMZBoard is no longer supported.

We've been able to modify text here and there to improve the emulation
but we have yet to convert the database and themes over to phpBB2
as they are all totally and completely different ...

The portal and themes are all independent works actually written
totally by the original AMZBoard developers at AMZ Web Hosting
and all made to closely resemble the layout, look, and feel of
similiar themes and styles that exist under phpBB2. Unfortunately,
we cannot use real phpBB2 themes because the file layout and
formats are not compatible leaving us stuck just with those themes
that we have right now.

I think eventually we are just going to have to bite the bullet and
write a database conversion program to convert the database from
our program over to phpBB2. It's going to be a lot of work though.

lol I could care less that your using it, just not fair to him unless you link.
LOL ... apparently you didn't read my last post!

The whole entire point is that we are NOT "using it" as you put it!

The only connection to Smarter, the phpBB Group, InvisionBoard,
or anyone else is purely in visual appearances only as we designed
the whole entire system to very closely emulate the visual look of
those programs but that is about as far as the similiarities go ...

There is actually no phpBB2 or EZForum code on our site at all.
Under the hood, the code engine is a totally and completely different
animal all together and the whole entire system is a totally
independent development that was developed from scratch
over a period of two years.
