Hosting shouldn't stop at christmas

what the heck....

I had my cell phone on me the whole time, I was still answering support tickets, and I had all my calls from the toll free number forwarded to my cell.

Same with me and live support, I was on almost all day solving quick questions for people. Except, I don't have the phone support.

Yeah,

If I did own a hosting company I would of checked them every day except Christmas day as people wouldn't like me not being with the rest of the family, but apart from that day the support wouldn't stop.

Thats how me and you differ. I had all calls forewarded to my cell and Live Help was CLosed with a message to submit a ticket. Since the tickets were foerwarded to our cell phone so we can answer. The support time wa smaybe 3-5 min slower but its christmass.

That website you linked to http://www.byet.net/index.php only closed their forum for the holiday..and mostly I imagine it would have been for free users..they are also offering support through support tickets for both free and paid customers. So I don't see the big deal, if they don't have as many people working during xmas and want to focus on support tickets and issues instead of monitoring forums then I think it is a smart move.

You took the thought right our my mind, they where still offering support on christmas they just closed their forums which isnt a bad thing at all.

Wow, that is bad indeed!

We are a Byethost partner, and at least the back-end support is still up and running for us (and we are giving our users support, of course). I can't imagine conducting business like that. How hard is it to answer a few forum posts? Or even to leave the forum open, so at least users can help each other out?

Well it is Xmas and people do deserve to get a day off. I did maybe some support after the kids went to bed.

Otherwise then that the server was still up and running. And to the customers that is all that matters.

tumble

that is terribly funny. and i say terribly because i cant believe that they actually did that. i was working Christmas will 2:30 the next morning. :S

Read what Tang said!

Also:
Sorry, the board is unavailable at the moment (down for Christmas) .

We will be back soon........

For support

Free customers, please create a support tickets using the 'Create a new ticket' link in your control panel

Paid customers, please use the following url http://byet.org/premiumsupport/

For lost passwords / other issues please use http://byet.org/contactus.php

I am a reseller of byet, i sent them a support ticket to find out about the forum and they said they are doing maintenance on it.

People that own and run these webhosts have families, so to be honest if they aren't there they aren't there.

No other business is open on Christmas (usually) so why should we?

Hospitals are open on Christmas. So are some gas stations and a few convenience marts. Why not Web hosts, too? Doesn't have to be full-fledged support, but again - why close the forum, of all things?

True, but if you're going to shut something down, why not make it the ticket support? Again, by leaving the forum open, at least users could help each other out.
