Firstly you should decide on a budget which you would be comfortable with .
Then if these servers are for any particular project , you must find out how much space , ram and bandwidth would it require .
Then you should try looking for companies selling servers which would match your requirements .

Only then Compare features and prices to find out the most suitable few .
Check out their Terms of Service to find out if they deter you from providing the service you intended to .
If not , add them to your 'Good Providers' list .
Check out reviews if available for the hosts . Remember , even good hosts can have negative or no reviews at all too .
That would further help you classify which providers would be the best in serial order...
Contact them and decide on payment terms , and finally Pay up .

This is the full order of how in my opinion you should proceed .
