Hi All,

What rights do I have if I am with a host who provides me with a free domain name on a paid account, if I wanted to move to another host? Can I bring the domain name with me legally or can the host refuse to release the domain on legal grounds?

Can I request that the free domain name be mine for always, before signing contract if a free domain is advertised with a company?

It depends on the host. If you have been with them for less than 12 months however, expect to pay the registration fee.

I would suggest contacting them to ask the question.

If it's registered in your name, you have total rights to it... legally

However, if you are not admin contact then you don't have any control over your domain.

I would get in contact with the host and ask them, it's likely that their are some restrictions.
