Hello friends, l am just looking for a vps hosting presently but, l am having sometrouble to understand whats a Busrtable ram, many offers like this

128 mb ram + 1024 Busrtable Ram :(

l m turkish, l am not a very good english speaker and l want to know whats the meaning of this term and how should l understand it. thanks in advice.

Burstable RAM is where you're guaranteed to have 128mb of RAM available to your VPS, but should you need to use more than 128mb for a few seconds/minutes, then it can be bursted up to 1024mb as long as the resources are available.

They'd like you to keep to 128, but the 1024mb is available for when you need it, as determined by the VM scheduler

128 is real low, you should try and find something with a little more ram than that, if you're website(s) take up all the burstable ram all the time the chances are you'll be suspended or terminated for abuse....

Doubt you will be suspended but normally there is a threshold of how long you can burst. Usually it is only so many seconds and if it doesn't drop the VPS will shut off. Really depends on how they have their limits setup but I would recommend if you are serving a site that gets a few hundred hits or a proxy then you better find more ram :)

With Burstable RAM, as long as the memory is available on the box at that time, you can use it up to your ‘burst’ level. You need to take into consideration that your burst allotment is not the same thing as your resource guarantee so you cannot count on constant, sustained utilization of your burst resources.

Thats a magic of numbers.

A VPS with 128 MB RAM won't be allowed to burst at 1024 MB for more than 2-3 minutes. That uses up lots of resources from other VPSes
