Well, what kind are you planning on using? SQL, mySQL, MS Access, Plain Text Files? There's multiple languages that you can use to make a database. Do you have any preferences? If Not I reccomend PHP/mySQL because of its speed and ease of use.

Thats a windows database and usually interfaces with ASP, but you can also connect to it using PHP as well.
