Godaddy .us only $6.95, will they raise their price next year?

Before everyone rushes in.....read the qualifications :)
Who Qualifies for a .US Address?
To qualify for a .US domain name you must meet one of the following Nexus Requirements.
All .US Registrants must be either:
A natural person (i) who is a United States citizen, (ii) who is a permanent resident of the United States or any of its possessions or territories, or (ii) whose primary place of domicile is in the United States of America or any of its possessions, or;

An entity or organization that is (i) incorporated within one of the fifty (50) United States, the district of Columbia, or any of the United States possessions or territories or (ii) organized or otherwise constituted under the laws of a state of the United States of America, the District of Columbia or any of its possessions (including a federal, state, or local government of the United States, or a political subdivision thereof, and non-commercial organizations based in the United States), or;

A foreign entity or organization that has a bona fide presence in the United States or any of its possession or territories that also (i) regularly engages in lawful activities (sales of goods or services or other business, commercial or non-commercial including not-for- profit activities) in the Unites States, or (ii) maintains an office or other property within the United States.

In addition, all name servers listed for .US domain names must be located within the United States of America or any of its possessions or territories.
If .US Registrants fail to continue to abide by the Nexus Requirements, or their qualifications cannot be verified, the registered domain name shall be subject to immediate cancellation.

Jan....also there are laws against falsifying WHOIS data...but cmon. If you don't live in the US you can still register. No is stopping you and no verification is needed.

Personally I'm almost certain prices will be raised.

and also .us's give alot of oppertunities for silly domain names. Like lookat.us. stoplookingat.us. Heh. or cunniling.us

ROTFLMAO

And with the price of $6.95, go register one for 10 years and stop worrying about GoDaddy raising prices next year. I'll do that if I qualify for register for one....:(

Doh! Why can't any other registrar do a 1-year registration for .us?? :mad:
Actually, any registrar can now offer one year .us registrations - at least until December.

There is a special going on at the registry right now.

OK, well I suppose a better question should be why don't they then...

It'd be nice to see one of the few paypal-accepting registrars doing 1 year registrations... ah well.. I guess I''l just have to wait and see.

It use to be to get a .us you had to take it in this form: yourname.city.state.us they were free but a pain in the butt to get one.
