Is Zendfree down (again) ?

Copyfight

Hi all.

I've an account on Zendfree, but I can't reach neither zendfree.com nor my own website since some days: are they down?

Does anybody know how to contact them?
I sent them an email some days ago, but they still haven't answered me.

Is anyone else having similar issues?

Greetings, Giovanni

Zendfree was a good free hosting service, until the owner was hamster (which should be registered to this forum, IIRC). I used it for a while with not so much problems.

Now, ZF is having a really bad uptime and now I think I'll move my files to another hosting service, as soon as I can reach them via FTP. :(

Moreover, traffic details about zendfree.com seems not to be so good lately.

Yea, zendfree is down i think forever since hamster sold it. But what really bothers me much is the way the site was shut down. For all I know, if a web host like that is about to shut down, all members receive an email to back up and download their files. But all that hamster did was saying the site has a new owner and thus is yet to see if he might work with him or not.

From the information about the aution, hamster listed the site for sale at sitepoint forum on Sun Nov 02 2008. If you need more information about this aution,
go to http://marketplace.sitepoint.com/auctions/49810. So I think for now, our files and data are gone forever. If you've got sitepoint forum account, you can visit the link above and maybe message hamster for any other information.

If you want information, I can disclose some, but only to a certain extent as the new owner might not like me doing so.

ZendFree is now having troubles with the LimeStoneNetworks datacenter due to the numerous abuse complaints it had received regarding ZendFree.

I cannot disclose any more information. The rest is up to the new owner of ZendFree to decide.

F.Y.I: I have not been affiliated with ZendFree since the sale in early November. I have only been giving advice to the new owner whenever he seeked any.

Hi, I have a forums site hosted on ZendFree (www.holoemu.com), and all the data is there. Can you please tell the new owners to give it back to me? I can't access the control panel or anything.

Thats a shame that a free web host cant even run anymore without constant threat of being shut down because of some idiot users.

I am so glad I am not allowing email on my service...however I guess you still have to deal with irc bots, ddos, etc.

hamster, can I ask you why did you sold zendfree.com for $500, when you was earning more than $200 ($350-$135) each month with it?

Moreover, were you earning only $350/month with a 1,500,000 page views/month domain, using AdSense?

Anyway, thanks for your information!

Who said I sold ZendFree for $500?

If the discussion turns into a "sale of ZendFree discussion", I will close this thread.

He goes by the name of Alex.

He doesn't have much of a public figure as of now despite my advice to him to build one.

Sorry, hamster, I saw "Highest Bid: $500.00", but I didn't noticed the "Reserve Not Reached". Maybe I should wear glasses. Please forget my question.

Zendfree.com is still unreachable, I'm losing my hopes to get back my files and the db.

I would certainly reccomend anyone who uses any free hosting of data make regular backups, I would also insist you do it even if your on paid service.

...and even if you own your own VPS/dedicated server... Trust me, bad things like HDD crash happens...
