Let's try this again :rolleyes:

I need a free site for a personal WordPress Blog.

I'm just looking to set up a fairly basic personal Wordpress blog. No business, no porn, no warez, no spam, no abuse.

I do wish:

NO FLAKY OFFERS -- NO FLAKY SITES

Don't tell me to contact you by PM or email and never reply!

Don't refer me to a site that isn't accepting new users or has a signup page that doesn't work!

Don't tell me there are mysterious additional requirements you never define.

If you make an offer, follow through and don't jack me around or just vanish!

[I wasted a month with this last time I asked and never got a site.]

* A free subdomain -- me.you.com

* A stable FREE provider that's been around for a while with consistent uptime, which won't suddenly fold...

* A fairly high bandwidth allowance just in case something I write goes wildly viral...

* The usual supported webspace functionality features...

I don't wish:

Ads in the headers or sidebars...

Forced datamining on my site...

Having my email flooded with verbose $0.00 cyclic billings, spam and superfluous "notifications"...

Unpredictable, lengthy and frequent maintenance downtime...

Abusive/crazy behavior from the host, staff or other users (I'm sorry to say this in not unheard of)...

I am willing to:

Observe sensible rules...

Post a reasonable number of qualifying posts in a forum...

Post a small ad or notice of unobjectionable content in the footer...

Who can help me out here?
 
Maybe I can help you out then. I've been at this for two years already, and although I've had my share of bumps I always pull through. A single banner ad that you can place anywhere it will be visible on your site can get you this from me:

Virtualmin control panel
PHP, CGI, Perl

The ad is a normal 728x90 banner, but unlike most hosts I prefer to let my clients choose where in their layout it will appear as long as it is visible on the majority of their pages.

Subdomains are included of course, and if your site does indeed do well I usually throw in a little extra bandwidth for accounts in good standing should you need it.

Perhaps that will do nicely for you. I don't like messing around with nonsense like promised features that can't actually be used, everything I advertise is real resources that you can use if you would like to.
 
Hmm...Let me get into this interesting discussion.


Flaky, of course, is not a word. But through its pronunciation, I think it means those unreliable host "always shaking around"...

I've activated the signup I believe is yours out of the pile of spam signups posting here usually gets me. Sometimes the email with the account info ends up in junkmail though.

Also, new accounts have a fairly restrictive PHP.ini in them to prevent abuse. Most of the time I can lighten that up a lot and enable features as needed, it is only set so strict to prevent any spammers that get past from doing damage before being detected. Just ask me if you need a particular PHP function enabled that isn't already.
