Hello friends... I have a client that needs a server to run Ragnarok.... I particularly never worked with servers games... I need one configuration and equipment necessary...

If you looking for the best performance of game server that you are about to host. I suggest that you should have a look at dedicated servers. Please let us know your budget and we will provide you with the quotes.
 
I think youll find Raganork is one of the few games that Private servers are allowed. When they moved on ro ROSE, they released the Raganork Server files.

HA do you think we could get an answer from the OP first as to whether they are allowed legally to run this for their 'client'.
OP has returned to the thread and not answered the question regarding legality of this request.
 
Decker, hi... my client can run this game, the game Ragnarok does not require cost or license to use... Everything will be legally correct...

No, and it appears i was probly wrong about Raganork, i always theough they released their files when they opened ROSE, but this it seems is not the case.

Its a controversial issue at the moment with people running WoW servers Knight Online server and basically every game you can think of.

As long as the server isnt based around pirated or reverse engineered files of the original game, then its legal. Blizzard is even having trouble shutting down WoW private servers using emulators ascent and MaNGOS.

As far as Raganork goes, the "emulator" AEGIS seems to be an illegally reverse engineered version based on leaked files.

However there is freya and eAthena wich are not, so technically they would be legal to use.

Its a contorversial issue and one that has no clear rules. :fangel:
 
Thatnks for that, I couldn't find the info to get a clear picture, although I had my suspicions about it being allowed, I know Freya & Athena are running (they are servers not clients for anyone not aware of these) but they appear to be part of the official network as they're linked with the Ragnarock tools sites too.
So it would appear that unless 'client' is one of the official sites (although OP has stated that it doesn't require to be licensed, which I now doubt very much) it's a no go.
 
It would be legal if the client of the original poster develops his own Ragnarok client from scratch, since using their client is pretty much the only illegal thing so far as the private server files are not developed by them.

Might as well make your own game if one decides to create the client from scratch.
 
As the game is a free download, it would not be illegal to use it to connect to a private server. Unless the EUA specifically says so of course.

Even then, the person hosting the server isnt actually doing anything wrong, the person playing would be.

Just because it's free to download does not make it free to use outside the official gaming circle.
There are paid options for it which is obviously what makes thecompany money, they also have strict rules - private servers would probably flout those rules.

I'd go with Kwek on this one, as they seem the only one that knows anything about the ins & outs of the server files usage.
