Its sad... the service dies... Is the economy that bad? So everyone now needs to get their own domain name and paid hosting in order to use email?

That seems to be what is happening to everything. And buying your own domain now isn't bad priced so why dont you just go out and buy your name as the domain and have the email address be your name?
