Is there a database for ASP like there is MySQL for php

You can use any database. MSSQL is the most popular with ASP, but you can use mySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL ECT...

Every ASP host ive seen doesnt even give a database with the hosting plan. They make u pay outrageous amounts of money monthly ($80/month) for a MS SQL server. Im beginnig to think that learning ASP will not be worth it for me. I'm still deciding on wether to learn ASP or PHP. ASP seems easier, since i know some VB, but PHP seems alot more cost effective and seems to be used by more people. Any ideas?

ASP .NET would be cool if you can find a host that will give you an SQL database. ASP .NET is the most flexible language
