Do you like rippers?

I have managed to identify 3 rippers of my website here at:

http://www.microze.co.uk

What makes it worst is that they have used Internet Explorer and simply clicked... File >> Save As...

Leaving this code in their source code:

Code:
<!-- saved from url=(0034)[url]http://www.microze.co.uk/index.php[/url] -->

This has got to be the worst one:

http://lps.batcave.net/home.htm

He took my poll (which is linked to my poll), my advertising banner, table structure, colors and one of my affiliates button...

Here are the other 2:

http://www.angelfire.com/sc3/mywebsite/
http://www.freewebs.com/croatoan/

I know of at least 2 sites on the web right now that have used my html for their web sites, and there was one some time ago, that actually had the audacity to use my code, and link the graphics from my server so that he got the ad revenue, I got the bill for the bandwidth... I fixed that by protecting from hotlinking except for a few images he was using... Those I simply added a different image with the same filename... But a completely different result...:D

<edit> I just discovered this is the 100,000th post to this forum. Do I win a kewpie? </edit>

Yep, I don't like rippers. I've never had a site good enough to rip, and probably won't. I think it's just odd when design sites have been ripped by other "design" sites. I remember there was a case where a new website for something like aero or some other popular product, the design company had ripped from another site

I take it as a complement. An annoying compliment, though.

My design comes from OSWD, so a rip would be pretty hard to detect. And a pretty dumb thing to do, too, since the template is widely available.

Hmm, I don't like it when people rip your website design and express that they designed it entirely by themself and steal all the credit for the *leeched* design... especially when all they did was save it onto their computer and replaced a logo...

"Wow, Started the site today, cool looking huh?"

:angry2:

I hate rippers, but I don't think anyone's ripped my site's layout. That first guy took my site's button, though, and linked it to some other web site :angry2:

LoL ... :biggrin2: Tech Files still received:

"Site of the month"

I hate that ripper! :angry2:

I use an OSWD design for each of my sites, so ripping it would be hard...it wouldn't bother me anyway :classic2:
But if they ripped my main page that would annoy me...I put at least an hour hacking that design to make it juuust right.

If I were a moron, I'd rip your site. :D

But I'm not...so your safe...from me.

KBC, why don't you report it to their host?

i hate them the most when i hire them as a staff and give them access to my files and they just take the design and layout and content then change the password to my site so i have no access to it.that was 2 years ago when my site was hosted on angelfire.when i see that guy on aim,i just kept warning and warning him.he's an id*ote!:jaguar2: :fork:

I did, 2 websites were hosted by Lycos, I reported abuse, they sent a reply and from there it became rather serious, statements, addresses, telephone numbers...

Ah... well...

I kinda agree with Gayo on this. It is, in a way, a compliment to you, but it can be annoying.

I've never had my site itself ripped (I don't think so anyway ), but I did have my entire forum design ripped before. The fact that the guy ripped it wasn't what bothered me the most though, it was the fact that he was still calling a few files from my server and stealing my bandwidth.

I think my site is safe but I have even seen images being taken from other sites to sell an unrelated product. I was looking at webhosts and then I saw that some one had used an image from apple.com's "SWITCH" campaign. The problem is that there are little ramifications that the unethical people that do these types of things will end up with.
