Does anyone know of a free Web host that has unlimited space, a cgi-bin, support for SSI, and most preferrably (but not neccessarily) no ads? I've tried 4Office.Net and they are great but they put ads on CGI scripts and that really gets to me. I have a message board script on there and the ad screws it up but moving things around and not making it display right.

It's been said before, and I'm gonna say it again... unlimited space doesn't exist, and if it does, you tell me 'cause I gotta pick up one of those unlimited hard drives for myself. http://hypermart.net/ or http://virtualave.net/ will [probally] suit you fine with 20MBs of space, but be sure to put the banner code on your pages to prevent the dreaded popups.

Please, we all know what unlimited means and doesn't mean. It is the word chosen by many hosts to define un metered. If someone feels the urge to tell us unlimited doesn't exist once more I promise I will PUKE all over these new, crispy boards.

Eternally yours,

It wasn't my intention to quote that! It was my intention to quote this (now I do it my way and it will probably look like shit):

See how confused I am?

Hmmmmmm

So many hosts are crap, i find the ultimate solution is to get cable internet and hook up NT server 4.0 or apache or whatever. But that is me opinion.

Thanks for the URL! I get a unlimited space to store my files! Yeah! No more messing with stupid servers like I-Drive, X-Drive, and FreeDrive! Thanks!

As people asked how they are making some money, well, the answer has been sorta found (I think). This is from their FAQ.

Streamload.com is free to upload and store as much as you'd like. Freeloaders, non-paying Streamload.com users are limited to the number of files that they can download or stream each day. Streamloaders (Streamload.com subscribers) can download or stream as much they'd like. All of our fees and prices are here.

When you click, you get this:

Freeloaders Streamloaders
Storage Unlimited Unlimited
Download limit 100.00 MB / day Unlimited!
Download servers Normal Fast
Banner ads Required Optional
Karma points Few Many
Monthly fee Free $5 -> $45

Sorry the table didn't turn out like it should have.

I was so stoked when I found a 784K SDSL line for $50/mo and free setup/modem (I'm 978 feet from the CO) so you can imagine my disappointment when I found out mpinet doesn't want you running ANY kind of server on residential DSL. Needless to say, I got the service anyway, but if that rule didn't exist, you bet your ass I'd be running my own webserver for bitsmart.org.

This isn't the ultimate solution. Neither Cable nor DSL generally provide the type of coneectivity web serving requires. It can be done, just not all that well.

You have 784 down, what is your upload speed?

Here's the weird thing, I thought it was 392 upload, but the package I got was labelled SDSL, and SDSL is same speed upload and download. Nevertheless, whether it's 392 or 784 K, it uploads nicely.
