Finding a free .com.ru domain

Are there any sites which register them without 10 day confirmation and without the need to already have nameservers ready? I need DNS, but I'd like the domain before I find a suitable host.

hello, RIPN has disabled the registration of com.ru domains, you will need to register a net.ru or org.ru if you want one. You can set up your dns in EveryDNS and next register the russian domains at www.dnsau.com, it's mandatory to have dns before you register the domain...

Greetings.

Just a side FYI ....

COM.RU, NET.RU, and ORG.RU are **NOT** domains TLDs!

Even though each of the above look like they are TLDs, they are all
actually privately owned domains and not actual TLDs.

The owner of each of those domains distributes subdomains off
of the domains they own and markets those addresses as though
they were domains but in fact are actually subdomains.

In effect, those addresses are the same as the UNI.CC service, etc.

There are real second level country TLDs out there such as CO.NZ
and CO.UK but the Russian addresses listed at the start of this post do
not fall into that category as many people might mistakenly assume.

Still not clear what's the main difference between a domain and a TLD. Could you explain?

Ok Lester,

Imagine you lived in Russia. Their ccTLD is .ru. You can register domains , eg www.example.ru or www.random.ru. You can if you want then put subdomains on this eg random.example.ru.

Somebody went ahead and regstered com.ru. In effect, this is just a domain. People then get subdomains to this - example.com.ru.

Basicly, a .com.uk domain is not a domain, it's a Sub-Domain with your DNS values added. Places that require you to have a TLD will turn you down if you use one of them.
