Looking for
CPanel
50 mb+ (prefer 100, but I take what I get :) )
Domain Hosting
Not metered transfer very low (I don't use much, but I don't like small limits.. 3gb+ sound reasonable?)
PHP, MySQL, Perl
FTP access
E-Mail controls that I think are default to cpanel (forward, create acct, etc?)
Ads preferably user-placable banners.

I had a good host, snake-inc, but I have a feeling they're dead for good after 2 years. Personal website.

If no such host exists, oh well :(.

Thanks a lot!!

Hehe, this request is kind of funny, on the unmetered part the fact you are like you don't use much but you don't want to have to worry xD. Basically that just means that you use a host with a decent amount of bandwidth and worry about it when you get close to your limit with that host. That and the fact that more personal free hosts can increase your bandwidth for you if you need, for example if you give them hits and such :). For you i would just go with the first option though.

Clubhost is one of the oldest FREE hosting providers and will be celebrating
it's 8th anniversary in just a couple of months.

There are 7 plans offered and all of them have way more than you are asking
so you could pretty much take your pick.

The two major differences is NO ADS as ads are not permitted at Clubhost
and Clubhost uses Plesk software for the control panel. Plesk has all the
same functions and lets you setup email accounts mail forwards, redirects, MySQL databases, passwords, etc.

Yes, but a whole bunch of posting is required. You have tried to scam me into your webhosting before and it did not work...

www.thefreeserver.com is a joke. How can a free host offer 2GB Storage 60GB Bandwidth? It has more downtime than it has uptime and I get unpleasent memories of using a 56k modem when I try to access their pages. Stay away, stay far, far away!!!!

Who are you talking to? I hope not me because you'd be seriously confused and totally and completely wrong ...

Clubhost DOES NOT require any forum posting for web hosting !!!!!!

We have 7 different account classes and only 1 of those requires any
kind of forum posting. The other 6 account classes DO NOT require
any kind of forum posting or participation whatsoever!

The 75 MB Lead account is obsolete and no longer provided.
Anyone signing up for the Lead account is currently automatically
upgraded to the Bronze account class.

The 150 MB Bronze account comes with 5 GB of data transfer
and doesn't have any special requirements. However, this account
is the most restrictive account and doesn't allow any file downloads
or audio / video multimedia content. This account class has no
signup requirements and does not require any forum posting.

The 225 MB Brass account comes with 10 GB of data transfer
but requires that you put a text hyperlink to amzweb.com somewhere
on each of your web pages. Unlike the Bronze account, file downloads
and multimedia content are permitted. This account class DOES NOT
require any forum posting or community participation.

The 350 MB Silver account comes with 15 GB of data transfer
and does not require any text links. However, all "page not found"
errors redirect the visitor to http://www.amzweb.com. Like the
Brass account, downloads and multimedia are permitted and this
account also DOES NOT require any forum posting.

The 600 MB Gold account comes with 25 GB of data transfer
and does not require any text links and doesn't have any forced
error page redirects. However, this account class requires
participation and posting in our forum community. You need
to maintain a posting average of 15 posts per month for this
account class and is the one I referred to requiring posting.
This account is our most unrestrictive account class allowing almost
every file type in existance and much more expanded web content.

The 1000 MB Platinum account is not yet operational but will be
the new class coming in to fill the void in place of the Lead account
that is being discontinued. It will come with 35 GB of data transfer
and is available to members who maintain an average of 50 posts
per month in our forum community.

The 1500 MB Titanium account (formerly Platinum) comes with
50 GB of data transfer and is available only to those members who
make at least 3 paid customer referrals to AMZ Web Hosting. No
forum posting is required for this account class whatsoever.

The Reseller Plan is a special account for those wanting to start
new web hosting businesses and will just go as a side mention here.

All the accounts come with PHP, ASP, MySQL and Email and the amount
of MySQL databases and number of Email acccounts also increases with
each hosting account class level.

WOW.

Too bad it claims no signups..
Also says they impose heavy file restrictions on the version I would most likely choose if it would allow signups..

If you lower your requirements, I am sure someone will host you
What's too high? Bandwidth?

Well, it's just that I get nervous around limits. My old provider threatened they would shut you down if you used too much bandwidth, but didn't specifically say how much that was. I never used more than 200 mb a month... but it's the principle that counts I think. I may have to go for badnwidth limitd though...

What do you mean "no signups"? Our signups are not closed!
You are a little bit beyond seriously confused if you think we
aren't accepting any signups.

The one and only class that has heavy file type restrictions is the
Bronze account class. That is also one of our smallest account classes
but has no special signup requirements.

The Brass and Silver account classes are much less restrictive and
the only real main restrictions is streaming or video formats but does
allow for those types within ZIP files. These two do not require
any forum posting. The Brass account requires text hyperlinks
and the Silver account has forced error page redirects.

The Gold, Platinum, and Titanium account classes do not have any
physical file type restrictions imposed but they require more to have
these accounts. The Gold and Platinum accounts require forum posting
and the Titanium account requires paid hosting referrals.

There is no such thing as "Unlimited" and those hosts that claim that
are often overloaded and unreliable as too many people try to jump
in on that.

Just for your FYI, in the past 8 years, nobody has ever reached their
maximum allocated bandwidth at Clubhost. A small handful have come
close in that time but nobody has ever exceeded it.

While it could happen someday I suppose, we have never suspended
or deleted anyone for bandwidth usage in the entire time we've been
in operation. Most people don't comprehend just exactly how much
of a massive amount of traffic we allow on accounts especially since
our traffic statistics is based upon burst averaging instead of the
standard cumulative transfer.

Another problem with the (although nice in most aspects) clubhost: no perl. I use perl for a program I configured a while ago and don't want to bother starting over again from in a new langauage.

Not sure yet where I got to a page I can not seem to find again that gave me the impression it wasn't working.

PM sent.

Perl is a "request only" item. We evaluate requests on a case by case
basis on that one. Since everything is either already written in PHP
or can easily be ported to PHP these days, there really isn't much need
or demand for Perl.

Well, it IS listed under your top plan and no other. SSI is listed on one of your top plans but not the lower one-- which really makes no sense. How can you use SSI without perl?

What would you think to allowing me perl for some scripts such as newspro?

The top plan comes with all those features automatically. It is also
available on the Brass, Silver, Gold, and Platinum plans as well but
has to be requested specifically on those account classes and we'll
review those requests individually.

SSI, Python, and Perl is NOT available on the Lead or Bronze accounts.
