GD support

Guys I am having someone add GD library support to a server. Is there a good and easy to follow tutorial on how to do this? Cause I don't want them to mess it up and I don't feel like having to be online while they do it. Any good resources?

isnt GD just an extension of PHP?

php.ini look for extensions.

GD is a library.

I've installed it many times. Haven't really had any problems with it in the past, although some older versions on Solaris were a pain.

[add] That won't cover adding support for PHP or Perl -- that's a separate process from the library installation.

I got it, used ./configure with a bunch of options and did it myself. just had to use the option --with-gd
