How Can I Limit CPU Usage Of Some Accounts

I have several resellers running on my cpanel server at the moment, one of these users is consistantly using 40+% cpu time, is there anyway that i cold limit this to say 10 or 15%.

I can't think of anything directly, normally I just ask customers like that to purchase another reseller account on another server and spread their clients out or upgrade to a dedicated plan.

A user on a shared hosting environment using 40%+ of the resources? I would just suspend them and tell them to buy their own server. Their money isn't worth that much trouble.

Check their files, see what their hosting first. It could be an IRC etc. Just suspend them.

You should probably suspend them, and they'll (a) leave, (b) purchase hosting or (c) goto another host, and get suspended by them aswell.

don't you people contact your clients, or check your logs/top to see what is going on instead of just suspending them first?

Unless they are causing server problems, don't suspend/kill the account. check your output and see what is using up all the resources. Possibly a rogue script or something of that nature is usually the culprit.

Work with your clients, don't just suspend their account like they don't even matter. That is the worst piece of advice you could follow is to shoot first and ask questions later unless your other clients are adversely affected and you have no choice of course.

If it turns out they are just growing their business, GREAT! Let them know they are using up a good portion of the resources and give them a choice. Upgrade to high usage pricing categories or move to a dedicated server.

Agreed. I've done that many times. I just assumed that "94" had run out of options and was looking for advice on where to turn next.
