Nah. But most HD-DVD players can DVD upconvert, and hence they being renamed to DVD Upconverters seeing as nobody wants to play HD-DVDs.

DVD upconveters are generally cheaper players used for literally upconverting standard DVDs accross a HD source to a better picture quality for HDTVs than standard DVD players.
