A found a place today that will sell me a 7200rpm Western Digital 80GB Hard Drive for $155CDN ~$98 US

Is that a decent deal, or do ou think I could find it somewhere else for a better price?

...

That's a good deal... but look below =P

Here's what I found:
Staples Maxtor Hard Drives Exp. 12/28/02, but the 80GB appears to be out of stock...

Office Depot -
Maxtor 60GB (Item#923511) $110 - $20 Coupon (gonna look for it later) = $90
Maxtor 80GB (Iem#180202) $140 - $20 Coupon (gonna look for it later) = $120

Office Max - is out of the 60GB and 80GB hard drives but here's a coupon for $20 off w/ $100+ purchase...

BEST OFFER!!! =)
If you wait until 11/17/02 (3 more days) you can get the Western Digital 120GB Hard Drive from Office Max for:
$199.99 + a pack of pens for .99 (to total your order over $200) = 200.98
then.... $200.98 - $40 coupon (READ THE PAGE FOR INSTRUCTIONS!!!!!!!) - $50 Rebate (11/17 - 11/23) = $110.98 shipped (free shipping on orders over $50) sooooooo remember this: buy between 11/17 and 11/23 at OfficeMax.com =)

<edit>if you get lucky and the 80GB hard drive (on the rebate above) comes back in stock by 11/16, then you can get it for:
$140 (i think) - $20 coupon above - $30 rebate above = $90 shipped =)

I paid $107 for my 80gig 7200RPM Seagate Barracuda Hard Drive.

It cost more than anything else on my system (XP 1800+, 48x burner, etc).

I paid $350 for my 20GIG hard drive like 5 years ago when they first came out. What a waste.

I know what you mean Robert.

I think I'll wait until the new year. I'm sure by then the 60 and 80 GB drives will be much cheaper.

CompUSA has that drive for $90 after rebate. So the price you posted seems pretty good. They also have a 250GB drive for $300 (that should do it, heh).

where have you seen a 250GB HD? the biggest i've seen is 200GB and there around $300-350

Well I know for a fact Maxtor are now producing 320GB IDE HDDs, but I haven't found any place selling them yet.

I hope nobody that owns such HD isnt planning on doing a backup using floppy disks :biggrin2:

When i went to compusa yesterday i saw 30gb one for 49.99 after rebate. 80 before rebate.

Yeah, I see that one as well. Thing is, I have a 9GB SCSI drive, and a 20 GB IDE one, but recently got into digital video and if you've played with it, you know that it requires about 4GB of space of every 15-20 minutes of video, and I only have about 10GB free after moving things around :(

I sure would like one of them 250GB ones, heh...
