Lowest Dedicated Server requirements?

corizzle

I don't need ANY MORE than 1GB of disk space and 10GB of bandwidth, and offers I have seen for resellers offer WAY more than I need or am willing to pay for.

Please contact me if you have any offers.

have you looked into vps? you can do everything but for way less, like $9.95/Mo. I wish we offered it.
sorry i'm new to this. what's a vps?

i just need to be able to use a script that uses a lot of server resources.
shared hosting hasn't worked for me, and I need this as quick as possible.

Are you sure you need a dedicated server? Those specs are really inline with shared hosting or a reseller acount. What script are you running?

VPS is a virtual private server, it's a dedicated server with multiple "mini" servers on it. The system will give you an allocated amount of CPU to use. It will function ine very way was a dedicated, just not as large scale. Check it out at http://www.hostingdepartment.net/vps.html

Thanks,

It's called CGIProxy, and was created by John Marhsall.

Thanks for the link utcrazy, but as you can tell, the amounts of disk space and badwidth i would recieve for far overshadow what i would be using or NEEDING.

I don't even really need 5GB of space, but the two shared hosting hosts that I have used said that the script uses too many system resources, but my site revolves mainly around this script, and I get MANY visitors daily.

VPS seem like the would offer too much, as well as dedicated servers.

Is there any way I could host this script without having to worry about CPU usage? I'm tired of having my account suspended, and I don't have $18 a month to shell out for space and bandwidth I WONT use.

Hey,

I think the plan "The 64" from http://www.unixshell.com/plans.html would fit your needs the best right now? That's just what I have off the top of my head.

Try to post another link or two if I can remeber any.

Good luck,

Tang

EDITED: This site also has a special offer recently (not sure if its over or not and its not in english but get google to translate it or something): http://vuokrapalvelin.net/page.php?2
I was looking at that, and it closely matches what I would need, but it offers too much. The prices are VERY reasonable, but I just don't need that much at this time.

I'd love to stay with a shared plan, but no hosts seem to want to deal with this script.

Just exactly what are the figures that this script uses up?
I'm not positive what this means, but my host sent it to me:

also, your hosting seems GREAT, computerhelpworld. If somehow your servers could handle my request, I would definately look into hosting with you.

I think I know what that is but I don't want to go guessing and get it wrong. So is there a title to each column or something?

PS. Thanks for the compliment; we try our best :).

I need a WAY smaller VPS than that.

as in 500MB-1GB disk & 5-10GB bandwidth

Okay, well I got one of our more technical guys to take a look at that "log" you sent me and as far as we can tell it doesn't tell you anything.

That log only shows you how many packets sent (the big S) and received (the big R). And I don't think that is enough evidence or support to say that you were using too much resources. What you need to try and get your hands on is the raw access logs.

Oh and what is your site's URL?

EDIT: Another thing, I've used the script before and it shouldn't be so hard on the resources..especially if your only using 10 GB of bandwidth..maybe I'm missing something but the numbers don't seem to add up here.

giving you the URL would prove useless, because as of this moment, I have no site, because they suspended my account.

I'll see if I can ask my host for raw access logs.

And another thing, since the beginning of March, my site hasn't even used 1 GIG of bandwidth yet, so I don't really see how their claim is true, but I'll see if I can get any evidence from them...
