Medow Muffins!

Now, I've encountered a bit of trouble with the bew site I'm working on. A few of you can probaly remember Crazedcow.com. Well you see that I'm still using my registar (RegistarAsia) to redirect my domain, and some problems have 'cropped' up!

The real http://www.crazedcow.com website is situated at http://www.djcl.com/cc/, but when I type http://www.crazedcow.com/pokemon/ it dosen't go to http://www.djcl.com/cc/pokemon/! It returns an error! :(

Help please!

Thanks in Advance!

Seems as though they don't offer subdomain forwarding anymore. Did they used to have such a feature?

No it isn't. Must be something in the way the redirection is set up. Apparently it redirects based on name (I guess that's how it works all the time, nothing I really know too much about), but it can't resolve with a folder name added.

Not sure what to suggest for this one.

Well thanks for your help chicken... if I get one of those IP thingies ;) can I redirect from that and not have this problem?

I'm just making a wild guess....

You know how those come.to URLs works both ways?
Ex: cool.come.to and come.to/cool They end up in the same place.

I think I have heard somewhere that the subdomain function is called a wildcard. I'm guessing that http://www.crazedcow.com/pokemon doesn't work because your registar or whatever thingamajig you use disabled or don't have wildcard. Or maybe they do have it, just that anythingblah.crazedcow.com always redirects to http://www.djcl.com/cc/ , which is also a form of wildcard function.

Correct me here, guys... if I'm wrong.

P.S. Maybe you can go check out http://www.wzr.net and ask how they do it, and apply that to your domain redirect.

Thanks for the input but I don't evn get sent back to http://www.djcl.com/cc/, I get an error page! :(

I think you've got it right and I want to know if I change my host to one of those free ones with redirection weither or not they'll have a 'wildcard' thingy.

Someone... help! :(

I was going to recomend you try mydomain.com just because it might be the script that you are using that is causing this not to work. (What else could it be?).

Mydomain does not cost money.

Really though, there are a few variables here. The space you are using is merely a folder, nothing more, and you are redirecting your domain to that folder. Now, the only reason I didn't recommend mydomain is that I really don't know if typing in yourdomain.com/folder would work there either. It might.

Your DNS options will vary depending on how your actual pages are hosted and set up on the server.

For starters, to be easy, I'd go to your registrar and change the nameservers to mydomain.com's nameservers and set up an account there and test it. It will take a couple of days for the nameserver change to propagate and then expect a couple days more for the set up of mydomain to fully work. Only after it is all set to go will you be able to test it.
