I'm currently have website and Invision Board hosted with p8o.com but I run into a lot of problem and am totally unhappy with their service. I am thinking of moving to another host but most importantly I do'nt want to loose all of my database (re: forum). I am currently on their Mini Plan (100MB discspace, 2GB etc...) Now I want 200MB and of course I want a host who can host website and also Invision Board so that I can move all my current database over. The other important factor is the speed. I have lots of jpg and gifs files therefore I need a good, fast server and reliable of course.

Depends on your budget. I use http://www.hostcolor.com and my invisionboard(in my sig) runs just fine. But I hear people saying that worldzonepro is really fast, you should check them out too, a tad more expensive though.

Archbob, Any host could carry your forum, It's not exactly very busy or working the server too hard an RAQ2 with 32mb could handle your forum.

Invisionboard eats lotsa of resources so you'd be best picking a host who has high performance servers such as http://www.hostrocket.com.

I've tried both . As for "addvaluehost", well ... 'page cannot be displayed'

As for the hostrocket hmmm.... it seemes very good value , an economy plan with 500MB, 27GB transfer for only $9.95 p.m. but they don't mention about forum? . I don't know much about Invision Board and so therefore I need to be sure that the host does know what they are doing. I can deal with the website but not the forum bit. So the host has to be the one who deals and has lots of experience with Invision Board that they can put my forum up and most importantly, I can turn to them for help , not like where I am now. Any one knows a good host with Invision Board expertise?

if you require special invisionboard host why not post it in their forum, you might get better response there than here.

Hmm... I just want to find out if there are any other hosts around who offer website +Invision Board hosting , besides of Invisionboard itself. There ought to be , aren't there?
I thought it may sound somewhat silly putting up message on their board asking for 'other' hosts?

A few of the worldzonepro.com members use invisionboard, even though they offer phpbb. Maybe ask at their support forums if the database can be easily moved?

Hi,

--importantly I do'nt want to loose all of my database (re: forum).

Simply backup the forums database from your current host to your hard drive (Admin Panel)

Restore it on your new board from your hard drive. (Admin panel - below backup)

Hello,

You may use myphpadmin to backup your data.

Alternatively, you may use Admin CP in Invision Board>SQL management>backup.

Thereafter, insert into your new host SQL database through myphpadmin again.

Doddle!

Invision Board basically required only PHP/SQL. Ideally, there is Zend Optimiser installed in the server to optimise the use of PHP.
No other speciality required.

if you are moving from cpanel host to another cpanel host, you can back and restore everything from the access menu in cpanel.

Hi,

I know a host that would server your needs, but I'm not sure if they offer free script installation and maintaining though. Still, if you email me - I can do all the support and script installation you need. :)

Thanks very much guys! Actually, someone has already told me how to backup the current database , the only thing now is for me to find a new host. I'm comtemplating of moving in the new year . Santiago , I shall email you soon.
