At long last, OpenBB beta 1 was released today. From the demo they have running ( http://community.iansoft.net ), I'd say it looks very good. Probably the best free forum software out there already, even though it's only in beta. Certainly a big step up over BlazeBoard, even though it's still missing a couple of things like search.

If no one told you, you'd never guess that the lead coder in their development team is 14 years old.

Doing that would also make you think most of the users are much younger than 14.

Good script, though, and I'm hoping the future versions will be even better.

They have a boxes for PMs, and the ability to reshape the entire board by editing templates.

I'd like to also mention some free boards as well.
Both are Pearl based.
Interestingly, Matt, the developer of ikonboard was part of the YABB team when he decided to leave and develop his own free board.

The frontpage looks quite similar to vBulletin. I don't like the look of YaBB. Ikonboard is pretty good and so is OpenBB

According the vB community forums at vbulletin.com OpenBB is a rip-off of vB.

It does look amazingly similar to vB... but then again, all modern boards look all alike.
