any one know how i can run php script on my computer and not have to upload them to a server?

If you have Win98, install PWS, if you have Win2k/NT Install IIS. Then go to php.net and download the php dll and files, install it and you are on your way! (or download phptriad from sourceforge)

Although roblev's suggestion is possible, brace yourself for errors when you try executing mysql_num_rows() .. that is if u use Mysql and PHP. The PHP biinary for Windows web servers (that is PWS and IIS) is buggy

I suggest you download NuSphere MySQL (the free version, of course). It comes with Apache web server for Windows (which is where PHP should word nicely), PHP, MySQL, Perl, SSL, phpMyAdmin, etc.

Bad Blue

I recently installed the BadBlue server & PHP4. Its really simple & fast.

Download BadBlue server from http://www.badblue.com

Download the PHP 4.0.6 zip package from http://www.php.net/downloads.php (Q: does PHP work on XP?)

Follow instructions on the BadBlue site & instructions at:
http://www.thesitewizard.com/archive/php4install.shtml

If you are concerned about security & only intend to test PHP locally, not serve pages, then be sure to block the ports that BadBlue opens with www.ZoneAlarm.com (free) or other firewall.
