Try osCommerce. It's free and very powerful/customisable.

If your hosting account cPanel has Fantasico, it has an auto-installer for it.

I have used OS commerce, go for it, You wont be dissapointed, and like bozley said, very customisable

The reason I didn't end up using for a client and developing my own system, was because it was too customisable. Man, gotta love it.

CubeCart, PHPCoin, PHPShop, osCommerce, Agora Shopping Cart are all free.

I think oscommerce is one of the craziest apps available for free, its so very well made, I shook my head in amazement in my 1st try. But it lacks an essential feature, a template based design.

Truedat kabatak, that is another thing that made me turn against it, coz I had to integrate the look of enough site, and it was just gonna be too much work.

But it is still the best free cart script available.
