the way our domain hosting works is we simply create a virtual host in apache and set the documentroot to the users original directory
so their original url (http://www.hostultra.com/~someuser) and www.someusersdomain.com are the same page in the same directory, there is no redirection to the new domain (unless the user puts up a page saying something like please use my new url at...) and the search engines notice no difference because there is no difference
example: http://www.stoleninc.com/ is the same as http://www.hostultra.com/~StolenInc/ you can use both at the same time
i dont understand you example using virtualave closing your account because you got a domain
can you suggest a better way i should give out domains?
I was just giving example from if a web site owner switches from host a to host b but if you are giving free domain names from the accounts that you already have, then you are not really offering both at the same time to new users. So the new user I guess is SOL.
